3 The needs End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, promote sustainable agriculture (SDG 2) Global partnerships for sustainable development (SDG 17) However Although the domains of AR and ARD increasingly overlap, most activities are still fragmented. Partnerships between research and non-research are still uncommon. So: 1. how to improve linkages between AR and ARD; 2. how to stimulate partnerships between research and the others (policy, private and non-governmental partners) 3 Building linkages between AR and ARD for global food security

4 Scientific reasons for combining AR and ARD Joint interest in grand societal challenges (local effects, international consequences) Widening the scope for solutions Standardisation of references and methodologies Mutual learning on research into use 4 Building linkages between AR and ARD for global food security
