2 Agricultural Census The preparation has been since Agricultural Census is the 6 th census Cover all population of agricultural enterprises and households engaged in agricultural sectors Socialization and campaign have been intensified during the census year Give foundation for advancing the Indonesian agricultural sector. 3 Rice Production Estimate Current data for rice production is generated from the regular survey of rice productivity per hectare and the Ministry of Agriculture administrative data for area harvested Future Improvement Acceleration of food crops statistics acquisition. 3 Large and Medium Manufacturing Survey 1. Problems of low and late response rates 2. Future improvement: develop common business register, improve communication and relationship with establishments, integrate all surveys targeted to manufacturing sector, and utilize the statistical law if necessary Small and Cottage 1. The low value added, dominance on number of worker 2. Future improvement: utilize the results of Economic Census and rural village potential survey, integrate all surveys targeted to establishments, and do periodical integrated survey. 5 STATISTICS OF NATIONAL ACCOUNT Currently, the Indonesian GDP base year is The hybrid of SNA 1968 and 1993 is still used. Indonesia hasn t disseminated income and green GDP approaches. GDP production and expenditure approaches are handled by different directorates. Future improvement: 1. Changing base year from 2000 to 2010 and from hybrid NSA1968/1993 to NSA Supply-Use Table and data quality: Will be used to consolidate a huge amount data from many different sources. 3. Explore the possibility of developing GDP by income approach and green GDP. 6 3

4 STATISTICS OF DISTRIBUTION AND SERVICES a. Foreign trade i. Unmatched data between trading partners and unrecorded foreign trade ii. Current and Future Improvements: 1.Data consolidation among countries, specifically within ASEAN and major trading partners. 2.Consider estimating the unrecorded foreign trade regularly, such as do special survey within Indonesian waterways, y, remote, and border areas 3.Plan to measure the differences between foreign trade at CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) and FOB (freight on board) approaches. 7 b. Tourism, domestic trade, transportation, and other service activities i. Inbound and outbound comparison, flow of border tourism/people ii. Flow of goods among islands, provinces iii. Land transportation statistics, specifically non-rail road activities iv.under-coverage of other service activities. v. Future improvement 1. Prepare discussion and future action with stake holders and users 2. Prepare the possibility to do special and regular surveys of domestic flow of goods. 3. To develop other service statistics 8 4

5 c. Price statistics i. Construction price index is the main indicator to disburse central government fund to local governments ii. The current Laspeyres Formula gets difficulty to follow the dynamic and volatility of commodity prices. iii. The ability of the farmers term of trade in measuring the welfare of farmers iv. Future improvement: 1. BPS- Indonesia has run program Change and Reform for the Development of since. 2. To improve the Spatial Construction Price Index 3. To have index that accurately represent the price movement 9 National Capacity Building Initiatives on Economic BPS- Indonesia has some bilateral co- operations with international ti institution to develop the national economic statistics There were several institutions that have given a technical capacity through improvement in BPS staffs skill, i.e., IMF, NASS, ASEAN- EUEASCAP, SESRIC Some training activities have been conducted in Indonesia under technical assistances.
