SAP Brief PUBLIC SAP Medical Research Insights Transform Clinical Research Into Value-Based Personalized Care

SAP Brief Seamlessly combine clinical research with clinical routine Cutting-edge clinical research and care is geared to understanding diseases, finding cures, and improving the life of each patient. Today s scientific advancements are offering insights into human health at groundbreaking, highly granular levels. To deliver high-value patient care, researchers and physicians must quickly translate knowledge from bench to bedside and beyond. Seamlessly combine clinical research with clinical routine Unprecedented access to big data and scientific breakthroughs are providing healthcare professionals and researchers with more information than ever. It also delivers the potential to drive precision medicine and value-based care. But physicians and researchers are challenged by the time-consuming consolidation, extraction and analysis of complex medical data, and the need to ensure patient privacy and data security. They need a solution that simplifies and accelerates the secure consolidation, access to, and analysis of clinical data, for example from clinical information systems, tumor registries, biobank systems, and even text documents like physicians notes. By filtering and grouping patients, physicians and researchers can easily analyze data and run scenarios for faster hypotheses building and validation. The goal is to more effectively shape clinical studies and the delivery of new drugs, devices and targeted treatments. 2 / 8

SAP Brief In any evidence-based course of care for patients, physicians and researchers need to analyze huge volumes of patient data to identify correlations and generate and examine hypotheses. SAP Medical Research Insights can help, supporting research tasks that include the exploration and visualization of complex aggregated data like this. You can, for example compare the efficacy of different treatments. This can help you to gain insights into the outcome of different therapy approaches and so deliver better value-based care. The first step in performing an analysis or building a cohort is to restrict the data to your population of interest. SAP Medical Research Insights has a patient analytics capability that lets you filter and group patient data from various sources. The visualization of the results is highly configurable and customized for different needs and users. The patient analytics capability helps you to: Filter and group patients across hundreds of attributes that can be customized for different research purposes Analyze patient cohorts to develop or verify research hypotheses Analyze aggregated patient clinical and genome data from a wide range of disparate sources in real time. 3 / 8

SAP Brief SAP Medical Research Insights helps you identify specific patient populations and cohorts for clinical trials or population health analytics. The cohort building capability allows you to drill down into a cohort and view a list of patients who are part of that cohort, according to your authorizations, of course. From there, you can collaboratively edit and refine the cohort by, for example, excluding individual patients. The cohort building capabilities help to: Identify patients according to a wide variety of criteria Compare cohorts against each other, for example Kaplan-Meier estimation for survival rate Enable collaboration on exported patient cohorts Identify clinical trial candidates and build patient cohorts for research and analysis. 4 / 8

SAP Brief Physicians can use the patient summary feature to quickly familiarize themselves with a patient s journey and their data and get an overview of all patient information at a glance. The patient summary visualizes patient data from various clinical departments on one screen. Here you can view both basic data about the patient and specific information about their interactions with medical professionals. Interactions are displayed in chronological order and grouped into color-coded categories including diagnostics or treatments. You can also access documents related to the patient, such as doctor s letters, and you can choose to display certain attributes, for example body weight, as charts to easily identify tendencies. The patient summary capabilities enable you to: View a patient s data tailored to specific clinician needs View a patient s history in chronological order Gain direct access, at point of care, to cross discipline patient data and documents Get a comprehensive, chronological view into your patient's history and drill down into timeline interactions to identify correlations. 5 / 8

SAP Brief With SAP Medical Research Insights, you can explore how specific conditions or characteristics of patients could be correlated to genetic variants. You can examine variants in the genome down to the DNA base pairs and investigate how many patients have comparable variants in specific regions of genes. You can also get a quick quantitative overview of relevant genes and sort them by their level of affectedness. The gene alteration matrix gives an overview of the affected genes for each sample in a sub-group of patients including the variants. The variant browser guides you through the chromosomes and genes, locating and color coding the genetic variants. You can navigate through the gene map to the level of nucleotides and it gives information about translations and has links to external knowledge databases. The genomic views allow you to: Identify variants correlated to disease profile Search for variants according to gene name or location Filter and classify variants Access related biomedical information Investigate correlations with disease profile on a gene level Easily examine connections between medical conditions and genetic variants. 6 / 8
