2 Bachelor of Engineering in Biotechnology Language of instruction: English Location: Kalundborg Duration: 7 semesters (3 ½ years) ECTS: 210 ECTS Internship: 1 semester Workload per week: 40 hours Application deadline: 15th of March (for foreign applicants) Tuition fee: If you are a citizen of EU and EEA countries you do not have to pay tuition fee for full degree studies. Study in Denmark With a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Biotechnology, you will be able to work in industry within the production fields of pharma, food, energy and the environment. You will obtain professional qualifications of high importance in the development of new products in the area of biological production, wastewater purification or bioenergy.

3 Program Structure You will acquire knowledge from the field of biotechnology, learn how cells are used as small factories in the production of medicine and food products, as well as learn about the biotechnological processes used for example in the purification of wastewater, and the conversion of waste to bioenergy. You achieve theoretical and practical skills within some of the following subject areas: Industrial biotechnology General and organic chemistry Biochemistry, molecular biology and microbiology Mathematics and statistics Chemical engineering Cellular and microbiology From the very beginning of your education, you will link theoretical knowledge with real-life professional practice as the program is based on a close cooperation with companies market leaders in Biotech such as Novo Nordisk, Novozymes and Equinor. During the last year of your studies, you will have an internship, take elective courses and write a bachelor thesis. Thus having a unique opportunity to tailor these activities in close collaboration with companies of high relevance to your future career. Furthermore, you will become acquainted with a number of technical areas such as chemical unit operations, practical regulations and instrumentation, fermentation, and downstream processing.

4 Your future and career opportunities As a Bachelor of Engineering in Biotechnology you acquire a wide range of career opportunities in the global job market - in Denmark or abroad You will obtain competences within development and production using biotechnological processes. It could be solving tasks within the fields of pharmaceuticals, food, environment and energy sector. You will qualify for a position as operational and production engineer working with process control based on chemical, physical and biological analysis. Control, regulation and optimisation of production processes could also be one of your areas of responsibility. Moreover having this education you can work as a process, trial and development engineer within research and development of new setups in the area of most recent biological production and wastewater purification processes. International opportunities Absalon has numerous international partnerships that give students the possibility for an international exchange. Students can study abroad during the 5th semester or do their traineeship abroad during the 6th semester.

6 Practical information Admission requirements To be enrolled on the Bachelor of Engineering in Biotechnology programme, you must have completed one of the following: HTX, HF, STX, EUX, admission course for the engineering educations or similar. In the qualifying examination, you must have passed: A-level in Mathematics B-level in Physics or A-level in Geoscience B-level in Chemistry or A-level in Biotechnology English corresponding to Danish B-level Closing date for foreign applications Quota 2: 15 March at 12:00 noon Tuition fee If you are a citizen of EU and EEA countries you do not have to pay tuition fee for full degree studies. If you are not an EU citizen, there is a tuition fee of 7,500 per semester. During the internship semester the fee is 1,000. To have your application form and exam papers processed, we require a non-refundable registration fee of 250 payable in advance. If you are accepted into the program, the 250 are deducted from the payment of the education.
