2 Greeting / About IATDMCT Eberhard Wieland (Chair) Christoph Hiemke (Vice-Chair) Dear Friends and Colleagues, On behalf of the organizing and scientific committees as well as of the city of Stuttgart we are very pleased to extend you a warm invitation to attend the 12th International Congress of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring & Clinical Toxicology. The congress will be held in Stuttgart, the state capital of Baden-Württemberg, Federal Republic of Germany. Since its first Congress held 1988 IATDMCT has dedicated its constant efforts to promote the interest and knowledge in Therapeutic Drug Monitoring and Clinical Toxicology internationally. We are aiming to organise a congress programme that will reflect the multidisciplinary character of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring & Clinical Toxicology and attract scientists and clinical practitioners from a variety of scientific and medical backgrounds. We are confident that the meeting will further strengthen your international and interdisciplinary cooperation. It will create opportunities for you to exchange experiences, present and debate new directions and topics with experts from across the globe. And last but not least, it will be an excellent opportunity to meet your international colleagues in an inspiring atmosphere. We will be delighted to welcome you to Stuttgart About IATDMCT Association The International Association of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring and Clinical Toxicology (IATDMCT) is an international organization of clinical scientists and physicians whose primary interest is to: (1) foster and promote education and research in therapeutic drug monitoring and clinical toxicology (2) improve the standards of practice and clinical interpretation of pharmaceutical analyses and facilitate the delivery of clinical pharmacokinetics for enhanced patient care (3) encourage cooperation with and between members of all professions concerned with TDM and clinical toxicology (4) encourage the effective application of therapeutic drug monitoring and clinical toxicology to optimize clinical drug use and maximize the clinical and economic benefits. 3 Call for Abstracts IATDMCT 2011 welcomes the submission of abstracts for original contribution to the field. All abstracts submitted will go through a blind, peer-review process carried out by an international review panel. Abstracts will be reviewed and assigned to appropriate sessions. Authors will be notified regarding abstract acceptance by June All accepted abstracts will appear in their full form in the abstract book, which will be issued in the Journal Therapeutic Drug Monitoring and will be published shortly before the congress. Guidelines Abstract submission opens February 1, Please visit for more details and to submit your abstract. The deadline for abstract submission is midnight Central European Time (CET) on April 18, Abstracts will not be accepted after this date. All abstracts must be written in English. All abstracts must be submitted online through the conference website at Abstracts sent by fax, post or will not be considered. It is the author s responsibility to submit a correct abstract. Any errors in spelling, grammar or scientific fact will be reproduced as submitted by the author. The abstract should be as informative as possible: a) state specific object of study c) summarize results obtained b) state method used d) state conclusions reached Abstract Categories The abstract categories are the general heading under which abstracts will be submitted and reviewed. 4 Prizes / Awards / Int. Travel Grants IATDMCT Young Scientist Prize The IATDMCT awards two prizes to the Young Scientists, one for the best oral presentation and one for the best poster. The two winners will be awarded the sum of 750 USD each. These prizes are reserved, according to the regulations of the Young Scientists group, to IATDMCT members aged 40 years or younger. Both awards will be presented at the Closing Ceremony of the 12th Congress of IATDMCT. Please visit for information about the rules that will have to be followed for selecting the awardees. IATDMCT Best Poster and Best Oral Presentation Awards The IATDMCT awards prizes to the best poster and the best oral presentation, each in the field of Clinical Toxicology and Therapeutic Drug Monitoring. Each award consists of a certificate and a Thieme Medical Publishers book-token valued 100 for the first author. The Awards will be presented at the Closing Ceremony of the 12th Congress of IATDMCT. Thieme Best Abstract Awards Awards will be given to any individual (IATDMCT Member and Non-Member) submitting an abstract to the 12th International Congress of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring & Clinical Toxicology. Thieme awards two prizes for the best abstract, each in the field of Clinical Toxicology and Therapeutic Drug Monitoring. The papers will be judged and ranked by the Reviewing Committee. The winner will be awarded with an individual certificate and a Thieme Medical Publishers book-token valued 100. Both awards will be presented at the Closing Ceremony of the 12th Congress of IATDMCT.
