2 Epoxy polysulfide terminated Thiopox EPS Introduction Thiopox EPS resins are solvent free, medium molecular weight epoxy terminated liquid polysulphide polimer with low, medium and high viscosity. They are designed to use in formulations with or without other liquid solvent free Bisphenol A/F epoxy resins to increase flexibility, adhesion, impact resistance, aging and weathering. Also they can use to improve chemical resistance. Thiopox EPS resins are better than the other polymer types for achieving flexibility without having to deal with any annoying odour for formulators. Thiopox EPS resins alone or after mixing with Bisphenol A/F resins are particularly suited to use on concrete and metal surfaces and especially to bond variety of plastics, rubbers, glass, woods etc. pieces. Thiopox EPS resins have been specifically developed for using in high performance coating, sealants, adhesives and composites formulations. Thiopox EPS resins are compatible with general epoxy resins. Viscosity can be easily adjusted by altering the ratio of the resin components in the mixture.

The addition of Thiopox EPS resins have only minor effect on the reactivity of epoxy resins. The desired properties of the system can be easily adjusted by choosing the appropriate hardener system. Epoxy is really popular resin in many industries. Lack of good flexibility and impact resistance of epoxies attract many of industries to use polyurethane resins. That is the main reason to use polyurethane on high stress surfaces. On the other hand, epoxy resins have better chemical and abrasion resistance than polyurethane and they are faster and easier to apply in compare with polyurethane resins. Thiopox EPS is a solvent-free epoxy polysulfide terminated resin with excellent flexibility and high impact resistance. With the benefits of epoxy resins (such as chemical and abrasion resistance) they are better than polyurethane resins. Products that produced by using Thiopox EPS to achieve flexibility and impact resistance are much similar to the products that introduced as a Green polyurethane by some paints and coatings producer companies. Polyurethane resins(pu) have many disadvantages: they are porous, permable and have poor hydrolytic stability. This makes the material highly vulnerable to environmental degredation and ultimately leads to their chemical decomposition, especially when it contact with water. Even worse, the manufacture of polyurethane involves highly toxic componentssuch as isocyanates,which can cause irritation of skin and mucous membranes, chest tightness, difficult breathing, upset stomach, fever and prolonged exposure has been known to cause severe asthma an deven death. Isocyanates are critical components used in polyurethane products such as coating, foams and adhesives. Exposure to isocyanates is known to cause skin and respiratory problems and prolonged exposure has been known to cause severe asthma and even death. Isocyanates are also toxic to wildlife. When burnt, isocyanates from toxic and corrosive fumes including nitrogen oxides and hydrogen cyanide. Due to these hazards, isocyanates are regulated by the EPA and other government agencies. Thiopox EPS can mix easily with general liquid epoxy resins and will cure by amine hardeners to achieve flexibility and impact resistance abilities to develop safer, plant-based polyurethane for produce different grades of adhesives, coatings, sealants, floorings and composites. The technology,eliminates the usage of isocyanates which can cause skin & breathe problems and asthma. This production reduces VOC s and costs, and is safer for both humans and the environment.
