5 Capillary Blood Collection Systems In vitro diagnostic medical device for capillary blood collection SC Sanguis Capillary Blood Collection Systems are the ideal combination for taking blood samples using an application-specific specimen cup. The system uses an integrated end-to-end capillary to measure out the required blood volume. The specimen cup is reagent-treated in accordance with the purpose of the analysis to improve sample stability. This combination also supports diagnostic efficiency. The two-in-one vessel with click-clack closure combines specimen collection and storage, thus avoiding contamination and loss of volume. Each vessel is explicitly marked with the respective volume, production lot and expiry date. The conicity of the interior of the vessel facilitates the extraction of small blood vol mes. Optimum utilization of samples avoids distressing patients and overloading medical staff by having to take multiple samples. 11 ESR Capillary Blood Collection Systems In vitro diagnostic medical device for capillary blood collection To measure the erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) of capillary blood, following the Westergreen method. User-friendly blood collection system available as a set, consisting of a dosed specimen vessel, a fixed-volume sampling capillary and a sedimentation pipette. The sedimentation rack allows 10 blood samples to be evaluated simultaneously, thus facilitating rational analysis. The sedimentation rack features an integrated graduation scale. Its solid aluminium design provides resistance against the disinfectants most commonly used in laboratories. The basic version of the blood gas collection system contains an average dosage of balanced heparin ~ 50 I.U. /ml blood. Other heparin concentrations are available on request. Compatible with all common blood gas analyser types. Unbreakable for maximum safety and efficient blood collection. Available in different volumes of 1 ml or 2 ml as a Luer Slip variant. Only venous pressure is sufficient to completely fill the capillary. The even coating with ~ 100 I.U. balanced heparin ensures the optimum effect of the anticoagulant. The A-K-FIX is made of unbreakable, chemically neutral plastic with minimal gas-permeability ensuring maximum safety for the user and the patient. The special treatment of the plastic blood gas capillaries with anticoagulant provides the basis for prevention of blood clotting during blood collection. This facilitates the diagnostic process on modern analysers. The risk of injury and infection for all participants during the blood collection process is minimized thanks to the unbreakable and flexible construction of the plastic blood gas capillaries. The SC plastic blood gas capillaries are made of chemically neutral plastic with minimal gas-permeability. For all intended uses in which glass capillaries would be a safety risk, plastic blood gas capillaries are the optimum solution. The plastic blood gas capillaries are heparinised as standard with ~50 I.U./ml or ~100 I.U./ml. Other heparin concentrations are available on request. The practicality of the hygienic round plastic dispenser box has stood the test of time and is the established type of packaging. Each dispenser contains 100 plastic blood gas capillaries. The capillaries can easily be extracted using the practical capillary holder which helps avoid direct contact. As an alternative to the round plastic dispenser box SC plastic blood gas capillaries are now also available in a large-volume, environmentally friendly cardboard tube box. The re-closable box contains 250 capillaries, thus minimising storage space and handling effort at the point of care. 21 Accessories for blood collection Inadvertent rolling of filled blood gas capillaries can be avoided by using the special hexagonal closing caps. A colour code simplifies identification of the size of the closing caps. The tapered inside shape optimizes the sealing features of the closing caps which are useable for all blood gas capillaries from SC Sanguis according to their exterior diameter. A variety of capillary adapter types ensure the connectivity of SC blood connection systems and plastic blood gas capillaries with all common analyser types. All adapters are equipped with a clot catcher to support the analytical process and long-term system functionality of the blood analysers used. 23 Accessories for blood collection Magnetic stainless steel mixing sticks are available in user-specific lengths of 9 mm and 15 mm. They can be used with all plastic blood gas capillaries from SC Sanguis. The mixing sticks are packed in functional, re-closable dispenser boxes containing 500 sticks. The user-friendly, autoclavable mixing magnet for optimum mixing of blood samples facilitates the introduction of the mixing stick into the filled capillary. They facilitate economical, user-friendly blood collection and minimise the risk of injury or infection. SC Sanguis plastic end-to-end capillary tubes are available for volumes ranging from 5 µl to 20 µl. Special sizes are available on request. Evenly coated with anticoagulant sodium-heparin or EDTA for an optimized blood flow of samples. All plastic end-to-end capillaries produced by SC Sanguis are covered by a certificate of conformity with measurement accuracy of CV < 1%.
