1 Open Access Veronika Spinka Berlin, September 27, 2013 page 1 Springer adjusts prices of subscription journals with significant Open Choice share in 2014 price list 92 journals affected Berlin, September 27, 2013 Just as we have done since 2011, Springer has again reviewed the open access share for all journals and adjusted the list price of those journals which reached a significant threshold of paid Open Choice articles. General price increases due to volume growth, however, also applied. In 2014, the subscription prices of 92 journals were adjusted based on Open Choice content. The tables attached show that subscription prices based on Open Choice go down in years with high Open Choice shares. If, in subsequent years the title has even higher Open Choice shares, prices will continue to decrease. However, in subsequent years with a lower share of Open Choice articles, prices can increase, though the overall development of these journals clearly shows the balancing effect that Open Choice articles have in offsetting subscription price growth. For the fourth year in a row, Springer has made its subscription price adjustments based on Open Choice content with careful consideration and the maximum possible transparency.
