4 The Experts Stuart Adams is a Senior Analytical Chemist at Fera working in the Food Quality and Safety Department. He has 14 years experience of developing and validating chemical residue methods in food focusing on the overall method performance. Lutz Alder worked for the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment between 1991 and In this period, he coordinated the development of official German analytical methods for pesticides. After his retirement in 2015, he continued to work as convenor for the CEN and started to act as private consultant. Michelangelo Anastassiades gained his PhD in pesticide residue analysis. From 2000 to 2002 he worked as visiting scientist at the USDA. Since 2006, he is Head of the EU Reference Laboratory for Pesticide Residue Analysis using single residue methods. Cindy Bion holds the position of Group Leader for Pesticides at the Nestlé Research Centre. Her work priority is the management of the pesticides harmonisation project to simplify and standardise the current pesticides methods. Monika Bross has been working at BASF Agricultural Center in Limburgerhof for more than 20 years. Within BASF, she has been involved in all types of residue and metabolism studies, but also in dietary exposure assessment and the preparation of submission documents to authorities (EU, US, JMPR). Caroline Harris is the Centre Director for Chemical Regulation and Food Safety in Exponent International s UK office. After many years as a regulator at CRD, she continues to be involved with MRLs, import tolerances and pesticide residues in international trade. Jochen Heidler is a Scientific Officer at the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment Unit for Residues and Analytical Methods. He is also a member in national and international working groups (National Expert Group for Pesticide Residue Analytical Methods (EPRA) and Codex Alimentarius electronic Working Group on Methods of Analysis). Andreas Heinrich-Lenz studied foodand biotechnology in Vienna. Since 2004, he has been working at AGES on risk assessment for residue behaviour and additionally since 2014 for analytical methods in course of EU evaluation for active substances and for national registration of plant protection products. Karsten Hohgardt is Head of a unit responsible for risk management in the field of toxicology and residue behaviour of plant protection products and their active substances. Since 2006 he is also Deputy Head of Department Plant Protection Products at BVL. His main experience lies in MRL setting and residue behaviour. Magnus Jezussek received his PhD grade in the field of flavour research. He started his career at the pesticide residue laboratory of the LGL in In 2006 he became Head of the laboratory. He is member of several national and international working groups, e.g. CEN and of the EU PT & AQC Advisory Board. Ana Lozano is a Researcher at the European Union Reference Laboratory for pesticide residue analysis in Fruits & Vegetables at the University of Almería, Spain. Her research areas are framed in the field of pesticides analysis in fruits and vegetables. Jens Lütjohann is a Food Chemist and is working for GALAB Laboratories in Hamburg. Since 2007, he is the Head of the R&D department. He is also responsible for the setup and implementation of internal and external QC measures according to DAKKs and SANTE guidelines. Roberto Manos graduated in Veterinary Medicine in Parma University in Since 2001, he works in the European Commission, in the Direction General SANTE. In 2011, he joined the Pesticides and Biocides Unit, in the team Pesticides Residues, where he deals with the implementation of the Regulation (EU) No 396/2005. Hans Mol is Senior Scientist at RIKILT- Wageningen University & Research. He heads the National Reference Laboratory for Mycotoxins and the National Reference Laboratory for Pesticides in products of animal origin. He is an active member in EU working groups on analytical quality control in the fields of pesticides and mycotoxins. Ionara Pizzutti has been permanent Professor at the Chemistry Department of the Federal University of Santa Maria, Brazil, since With experience in analytical chemistry with emphasis on chromatography, she is mainly active in GC-MS/MS, LC-MS/MS, pesticides analysis in fruits, vegetables, cereals. Łukasz Rajski is a PhD student of advanced chemistry at the European Union Reference Laboratory for Pesticide Residues in Fruit & Vegetables at the University of Almería. Hermine Reich is working for EFSA since 2006, being in charge of the implementation of the provisions of the MRL Regulation (EC) 396/2005. Her background is in food chemistry, food technology and biotechnology. Jos Scholten is working in pesticides analysis for about 10 years, especially with LC-MS equipment ((MS/ MS (ESI-TQ)) and the last 1,5 years with LC-Q-TOF. Before that, he was working in the field of mycotoxins for about 20 years, using LC with UV-, fluorescence- and MS-detection. Carmen Tiu holds a Master of Science in Organic Chemistry and is Global Residue and Risk Leader at Dow AgroSciences. She has worked in R&D for 18 years, with expertise in residues, MRL s and food safety, risk assessment, regulatory and public affairs, and formulations development.
