1 JENNIFER L. MEYER 3809 Burberry Drive North, Apt. C Lafayette, IN (352) jsteill4@hotmail.com, jlmeyer@purdue.edu March, 2009 Purdue University West Lafayette, IN Throughout my higher education and employment, I have gained over nine years of experience conducting research on genetic- and molecular biology-related topics. Currently, I am a laboratory manager at Purdue University in the Department of Forestry and Natural Resources. I coordinate and manage the safe use of six laboratories and ensure proper maintenance of laboratory equipment. I have the opportunity to train and oversee departmental personnel, graduate and undergraduate students in proper and safe methods, techniques and procedures for use of specific research equipment. Other responsibilities are to design and implement various methods/protocols pertaining to research, maintain inventory and order supplies, and prepare and maintain common use chemicals and biological supplies. Prior to my current position, I was employed as a research associate at Purdue University in the Department of Biochemistry. I designed, planned and executed experiments involving DNA cloning, protein purification, enzymatic assays, and the PCR. In addition, I supervised and trained undergraduate students, managed and purchased laboratory supplies, and maintained laboratory equipment. I have earned a Master of Science degree from the Department of Entomology and Nematology at the University of Florida, and have experience as a biological scientist in the same department. I am proficient in numerous molecular techniques including DNA/RNA isolation/quantification, PCR, Southern blot analysis, recombinant DNA technology, genetic engineering, and genetic transformation of insects and bacteria. I am skilled in the maintenance of plants and insect colonies, and in working with proteins such as protein engineering and protein purification using chromatography and FPLC.
