2 Cleaners Cleaning is just one step in a two step program to create a safe and clean environment for livestock to rid areas of high soil loads, hard water and areas having porous surfaces. In addition to cleaning, dry cleaning helps remove any gross organic material, allowing the detergent to reach the toughest areas. 3 Disinfectants Biosecurity doesn t cost, it pays. And disinfecting is a big part of that equation. By definition, biosecurity means; securing life. For the pork producer, it can be defined as a comprehensive program designed to create a protective barrier around the production facility that will physically block the introduction of disease. This can be achieved through procedures like (but not limited to); cleaning and disinfecting buildings, vehicles, and supplies, limiting visitors, requiring shower-in shower-out protocols, providing fresh coveralls, and placing foot baths at all building entrances. 4 Synergize Synergize is a multi-purpose disinfectant-cleaner formulated for use in swine operations. It is also formulated for use on the following equipment in these facilities: waters, feeders, hauling vehicles and equipment, farrowing barns, nurseries, blocks, creep areas, and chutes. For small scale disinfecting (tires, undercarriages, loading chutes, loading docks, small equipment, etc.), filling a pump-up or backpack sprayer (2-5 gallon capacity) with propylene glycol (PG) and adding recommended levels of Synergize Disinfectant is the surest way to prevent freezing. To address large scale mixing issues, we recommend the use of a holding or reservoir tank. Using an empty 55 gallon drum as our tank, follow these recommended procedures: 1. Fill empty drum with fifty (50) gallons of water 2. Add 50 oz of Synergize Disinfectant 3. Add prescribed amount of propylene glycol (2.5 10%) depending on level of freeze protection desired 4. DC&R Disinfectant can be used to disinfect pens, feeders, waters, hauling vehicles and equipment, and an excellent footbath disinfectant. 5 Rodent Control Rats and mice are estimated to cause $30 billion per year in damages to barns and electrical equipment. They are also vectors of disease such as PRRS, PED, and ileitis, and can consume valuable feed and water on the farm. Due to the extreme summer weather this year, we see increased pressure from rodents moving in to your facilities this fall and winter.
