1 YOUR TICKETS. YOUR EVENTS. OUR TECH. COST BENEFIT

2 Abstract Many companies view sports, concerts, and other ticketed events as a form of entertainment for clients and prospects, generating sales opportunities from the resulting ticket use data. Each year, thousands of companies, leagues and teams purchase hundreds of millions of dollars worth of tickets. However, many companies do not adequately track and report on how their tickets are used, who uses them, and what result came about from using, or not using, them. There is a clear market need for a superior ticket management system that tracks, monitors and records key ticket use analytics. Such a ticket management system would allow organizations to perform cost-benefit analyses and profitability calculations on their entertainment assets, helping to determine how they contribute to the bottom line. Introduction Sports and other ticketed events are much more than just recreational activities. They are business opportunities. Companies use ticketed events for a number of different purposes: networking, team-building, client development, and employee appreciation. Some companies attend networking events to build stronger and more connected teams. Others use sporting events to show clients (or potential clients) that they are valued or even use entertainment functions simply as a way to build employee loyalty. No matter which role that ticketed events play within companies, there is one consistent commonality: The need to generate and measure results. Organizations are increasingly seeing ticketed events not merely as a form of entertainment, but as a source of opportunity. Sports and other entertainment events allow companies to build and develop relationships. These relationships can in turn lead to business opportunities whether they be in sales, networking or other key business areas. In order to realize these opportunities, however, a new type of ticket management solution is needed one that allows businesses to track, monitor and record key ticket-use analytics. This paper outlines a framework for this type of ticket management while presenting a bold new solution in this area. The Need Event sponsorship and attendance are established marketing strategies for companies. Sponsoring an event not only raises awareness for a company s brand, but it also generates sales opportunities in the form of event attendance. Companies that sponsor events (e.g. sports, live entertainment) typically receive an allotment of tickets for the event/ team/league they have sponsored, along with dedicated suites at the event(s). Taking prospective clients/customers/ suppliers out to events is a key way for companies to network with key players they want to create and sustain relationships with. For example, by taking a client out to a sporting event, a company can show their appreciation for their continued business. This in turn can lead to new accounts and partnerships with this client. The same strategy is often used by companies wanting to court suppliers, industry partners and retail partners. Event attendance is a fun, social, and organic networking option that can establish lasting relationships that lead to new and recurring revenue streams. Traditionally, the ROI and cost/benefit ratios of event attendance have been difficult to track. Taking clients/suppliers/ partners out to a game is a great way to establish a relationship, but it is not always obvious how these relationships contribute to the bottom line. A key problem (and opportunity) lies in ticket management. Traditionally, companies acquire tickets for their employees, clients, and guests through sources like TicketMaster and StubHub. These ticket sources do not offer a streamlined ticket request and use-monitoring system with the ability to track how tickets were used and what results they generated. Accordingly, there is a clear market need for a superior ticket management system that allows companies to track how tickets are used and the results that came from their use.
