12 CDM Delegate Programme May-June 2003, ITPO Tokyo Executed under UN Interagency Project Invited CDM experts from Brazil and South Africa to Japan Brazil: Prof. Roberto Moreira, CENBIO South Africa: Mr. Stefan Raubenheimer, SouthSouthNorth 1-on-1 meetings with private sector (Tokyo and Nagoya) Workshops and press interviews Projects promoted 53 for Brazil and 21 for SA Brazil and SA CDM Investment Guides published Follow-up is undertaken 12

13 CDM Delegate Programme Issues raised by the Japanese private sector How to find information on host countries? What is the government policy? What are the regulations? How to find and reach focal points? How to find projects? Price of CERs? Support of the Japanese government Urgency to find new CDM markets and projects is desired Japan s policy is private sector oriented In one word: Implementation 13

14 CDM Delegate Programme Future Plans Several CDM delegates per year All Host countries eligible Programme for Asia-Pacific is desirable for Japan Programmes can be repeated through UNIDO s ITPO Network (i.e. Italy, France, UK) Accelerate promotion of CDM projects in Annex 1 countries 14
