Legacy System Services Expert support and lasting protection for your investment to keep your plants running longer siemens.com/lss

Legacy System Services improve the availability and serviceability of your distributed control system for the long term. Meaningful protection for your investment To remain competitive, plants must be highly productive, efficient and also flexible in the way they operate. New technologies and constant refinements to system technology also create substantial pressure to innovate. Dealing with all of these expectations means that the costs of long-term upgrades using innovative process control technology can often stand in the way of swift implementation, especially in the case of plants with no proactive maintenance strategy in place. This is where Legacy System Services come into play: Legacy System Services support you as an operator by providing proactive technical support and making available selected products that are now obsolete. This gives you the necessary leeway to plan and implement upcoming upgrades. 2

Lifecycle of products in distributed control systems Active marketing Spare parts No active marketing Product is available and will be delivered soon Product can be ordered and delivered Product can be ordered and delivered as a spare part Warranties being processed Expanded availability and support for selected products Authorized for sale Authorized for delivery Product wind-down/ Type deletion Product discontinuation Product is current SIMATIC PCS 7 V(x) Product is being wound down SIMATIC PCS 7 V(x-1) Product is obsolete SIMATIC PCS 7 V(x-2) SIMATIC PCS 7 product lifecycle Version strategy for industrial software A major release is a product version that generally includes more substantial functional expansions compared to the previous version, as well as corrections to the previous minor releases. Major releases are identified by the numeral to the left of the point in the version ID (e.g. x in the case of Software V(x.y) ). A minor release is a product version that generally contains corrections and minor functional expansions compared to the preceding major release. Minor releases are identified by the numeral to the right of the point in the software product name (e.g. y in the case of Software V(x.y) ). An obsolete version is a product version that has been followed by two major releases and the software is no longer maintained. These versions no longer benefit from actions to expand functions, close security loopholes or rectify incompatibilities, regardless of whether these issues were known at the time the software was made available. The obsolete product version is identified by the numeral following the x in the product name (e.g. Software V(x-2.y)). In this case, -2 means that two major releases have followed the release of this product. 3

Professional support and System Support Product Delivery Legacy System Services Legacy System Services bridge the gap before a scheduled plant upgrade for the process control technology based on SIMATIC PCS 7. Selected components from the product range of obsolete versions of SIMATIC PCS 7, together with the contractually assured technical support, ensure that an existing plant can continue operating for a period to be determined. System Support module System Support gives you a contract-based assurance of technical support for SIMATIC PCS 7 V(x-2). A central access channel to our Customer Care Center is available for you to contact your Legacy System Manager to ensure the best possible technical support. The agreement generally runs for three years, and may be extended depending on the SIMATIC PCS 7 product lifecycle. To be optimally prepared to provide technical support, we need to be thoroughly familiar with your installed base. Overview of what we offer: ٠ Contractually assured access to technical support for obsolete SIMATIC PCS 7 V(x-2) components. ٠ Specialized experts with the necessary technological know-how coordinate all your inquiries. ٠ System Support is an essential option for procuring selected components that have already been discontinued, via the Product Delivery module. 4

lasting protection for your investment If urgently needed upgrades are not performed and obsolescence risks are managed only reactively, you often risk a constant increase in operating costs (OPEX) as a consequence. This increases the risk of reduced plant availability and technical reliability. Contract Customers Customer Care Center Legacy System Manager System Support Product Delivery Product Delivery module Product Delivery gives you access to defined, obsolete hardware and software components in the SIMATIC PCS 7 distributed control system. The standard guarantee rules apply to these components. They are not subject to any maintenance processes, however. They retain all system properties from the active marketing phase. Likewise, no further adaptations to any new general external conditions (e.g. IT security requirements) are performed. For contract customers, this opens up an attractive opportunity: you have the assurance of being able to continue running an existing plant for a set period using obsolete system components, and can even expand the plant as appropriate. Overview of what we offer: ٠ Assured access to components for the product version SIMATIC PCS 7 V(x-2). ٠ Procurement using standard ordering processes and using known order numbers. ٠ This module is available only in combination with the System Support module. 5

Benefits for your plant Access to technological knowledge and experience As a system becomes older, the number of people with the relevant expertise tends to decrease, in terms of both maintenance and operation. Ensuring that system specialists will be available to deal with obsolete distributed control systems can therefore be a major challenge for your maintenance arrangements. Legacy System Services give you contractually assured access to our experts in obsolete SIMATIC PCS 7 components. Availability of obsolete system components Expanding an engineering or operator environment always demands system-compatible components, if the existing automation system cannot be upgraded in tandem with the expansion work. Legacy System Services ensure you still have access to a broad selection of obsolete hardware and software components. Schedule your upgrades with confidence The risk of outages and the associated costs increase as a plant gets older. Needed upgrades often fail on account of the level of investment required. Legacy System Services let you bridge the gap in the short term until the next scheduled system upgrade, giving you cost transparency with calculable risks for maintenance activities, and also assure the productivity of your plant. 6

Benefit from Legacy System Services Proactive support Contractually assured support for obsolete SIMATIC PCS 7 components for operators and maintenance technicians ensures continued plant operation. Investment protection Legacy System Services give you the necessary space in terms of time and finances until you can upgrade your plant. Cost transparency Your ability to budget reliably for maintenance costs is significantly improved, making sure your plant can continue to run economically. 7
