The readme file is als available n the NvaTec ( website. The NMS is cpyright prtected by a USB dngle. The dngle limits the number f simultaneusly started NMS entities. Netwrk Management System When NMS ran fr a lng time, crashes culd ccur while the NMS tried t send snmp- Ntificatins. The Bug has been slved. NvaTec Netwrk Services If NMS was used with TLS, then with the time the memry usage increased. The bug has been slved. If an errr ccurred n starting the Netwrk Services then the applicatin stpped wrking/crashed after reprting the errrs. Nw, the applicatin will be clsed after errr reprting. 2 3. Install and start NMS 7.1.1: Please uninstall all previus NvaTec NMS releases. Insert CD and start setup.exe. Insert a NMS-dngle in a USB slt. Please nte that if yu are using a virtual machine, yu need t install an IP-USB-HUB and insert the NMS-dngle in the IP-USB-HUB. After installing NMS with setup.exe, start NMS by START->All Prgrams->Nvatec->Netwrk Management System >jb Management fr cnfiguratin. START->All Prgrams->Nvatec->Netwrk Management System >Netwrk Services START->All Prgrams->Nvatec->Netwrk Management System >Netwrk Management System fr the Server. 4. Applicatins NMS includes the fllwing applicatins: Netwrk Management System Call Hme Jb Management NMS Client NvaTec Netwrk Services The Applicatin Call Server and Trace Inf Client are n lnger included in this package. These are nw included in the NMP package nly which can als be dwnladed frm the NvaTec Website. 5. Requirements The fllwing perating systems are supprted: Micrsft Windws XP (Service Pack 2) Micrsft Windws 2003 Server (Service Pack 2) Micrsft Windws 2008 Server (Service Pack 2) The machine n which this sftware is being installed shuld meet the fllwing minimum requirements: 2 GB RAM 3 GHz CPU 1 GB free disk space CD-ROM drive IP-USB-HUB (nly if the NMS is running n a virtual machine (VM)) NvaTec Kmmunikatinstechnik GmbH Release Nte NMS /8

3 6. Perfrmance cnsideratins One NMS instance can handle ne jb at a time. Depending n the jb type (fault management, cnfiguratin uplad, firmware uplad etc.) the duratin f the jb differs. This limits the number f jbs which can be carried ut in a certain time. The fllwing table shws typical jb duratins: Fault management (receiving a Call Hme event nly) Firmware update Jb type Cnfiguratin update (withut MH file) Duratin (with TLS) 10 s 16 min 1:30 min The duratin f the jb can differ depending n the netwrk perfrmance. The duratin f the cnfiguratin update can differ if a cnfiguratin is significantly larger than usual. The perfrmance f the NMS can be increased by starting multiple NMS instance n the same PC. The NMS dngle cntrls hw much NMS instances can be started simultaneusly. If the NMS dngle allws 3 NMS instances then the perfrmance imprves by factr 3 in cmparisn t just starting ne NMS instance. 7. New Features and Bug fixes 2.1 New Features in 7.0.5: Netwrk Management System: Add in a Buttn t test the cnnectin t the SNMP-Trap-Receiver. When this buttn is clicked, a warmstart-ntificatin will be sent fr each A-MGW t the SNMP Receiver. Bug fixes in 7.0.5: Netwrk Services: Bugs descriptin: a.) The IP- address and MAC-address did nt appear in each SNMP ntificatin. b.) The MAC-address was nt written in the jb database whenever an event reaches NMS This bugs were nt in Release but ccurs since Release Reasn: 2.2 Changes in Netwrk Services did nt transprt tw infrmatin elements (IE) t NMS. These tw IEs are MAC-Address-IE and IP-Address-IE. 8 3. PC Requirements The minimum requirement f a PC, where NMS is installed, shuld be: Windws XP r Windws Vista 2 GB RAM 3 GHz CPU 1 GB free disk strage CD Drive 4. Install and start NMS 7.0.5: Please uninstall all previus NvaTec NMS releases. Insert CD and start setup.exe. Insert a NMS-dngle in a USB slt.
