Engaging Unily A Framework for Success A CYCLE OF CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
Plan Plan
01 Benchmarking: We implemented Google Analytics on the old intranet to understand its strengths and weaknesses 02 Insights: With 22,000 pages, only 17% had been viewed more than 100 times in the past 12 months 03 Vision: A business readiness survey was conducted with the key project stakeholders capturing their vision for a successful new digital workplace
04 Our people: We ran a user survey on our current intranet to gather a broad spectrum of feedback 05 User stories: We held one to one user interviews to frame our users challenges in their day to day work 06 Where to start: All of this planning and research culminated in a presentation of key findings back to Flight Centre s leadership team
Design Design
Design Information Architecture Putting what is most important to the users within easy reach is crucial for driving long term adoption Audit: We evaluated the content to be migrated and came up with a straw man for the IA Workshop: We ran workshops where we asked users to prioritise content from the audit to create an IA that resonated with them Agree: Finally, we brought together the varying views to create an IA that combined organisational structure as well as user needs
Design Ownership and Governance Content ownership will stop our digital workplace platform becoming outdated and untrustworthy Audit: We evaluated all the content marked for migration, aligning each page to a function within the business Assign Owners: We coordinated with each function to nominate an intranet champion to own the content in their area of the new platform Categorise: Finally, the intranet champions were able to review the pages they owned to identify their status (out of date, ready to migrate etc.)
Design Principles and Pages Making content and information exciting, fresh and vibrant is how we will keep users coming back time and time again Design Principles Simplicity and consistency If its easier to find on Google, it doesn t belong on the intranet No information should be entered in two different places Page Types and Templates Navigation pages Team Pages Light Content Pages Complex Content Pages

Launch
Launch A staggered approach to launch gave us the ability to take on board incremental learnings as we introduced new users to the site First were the content editors with advanced CMS training Next came our intranet champions and wider content owners with early site access After this we rolled the site out to our select early adopters and advocates Now we have rolled out to our senior leadership team
