It aligns information cost to value through value-based archiving and tiering; reduces information risk by instrumenting privacy, electronic discovery (ediscovery), and regulatory policy across the data environment; and enables the business to realize information value as context erodes and information volumes increase with in-place analytics, content management, and collaboration. Atlas Policy Suite is comprised of various products that are organized by solution areas for legal, records and information management, and IT teams. The ILG solution for the legal team is IBM ediscovery Management; the ILG solution for the records and the information management team is IBM Records and Retention Management; and the ILG solution for IT is IBM Disposal and Governance Management for IT. New in Atlas Policy Suite The ediscovery Management solution includes enhancements for the integration between Atlas Policy Suite and IBM ediscovery Manager; user experience improvements when working with large lists of custodians; enabled column sorting on most commonly used pages; expanded capability to add attachments, record notes, and comments; collection process usability improvements; improvements to the process for releasing legal holds; new custodian-based reports using IBM Cognos Business Intelligence, and mobile device support for legal hold notices and custodian interviews. The Records and Retention Management solution enhancements include a new retention policy distribution connector that automates the distribution of retention scheduled for IBM Content Manager OnDemand; enhancements to the retention policy syndication framework to enable automatic distribution of retention policy for IBM Content Collector (a new Atlas Policy Suite for Content Collector connector is shipped with Content Collector), and a new local schedule details and history report using IBM Cognos Business Intelligence. Planned availability date November 29, 2013: Electronic availability December 13, 2013: Media availability Description IBM ediscovery Management solution overview Companies face significant legal risks and high costs associated with managing litigation and the preservation, collection, and review of evidence in their cases. IBM ediscovery Management provides capabilities companies can use to mitigate ediscovery risk and cost, and to improve case strategies. These features enable users to more effectively and efficiently: Identify, search, cull, hold, or export electronically stored information when responding to a litigation, audit, investigation, or information inquiry. Assess evidence earlier in a case lifecycle, understand material facts by visualizing key aggregations of evidence, and form case strategies to address potentially costly litigation. New with this release: ediscovery Management solution enhancements for the legal hold connector between Atlas Policy Suite and IBM ediscovery Manager (part of ediscovery Management) include the ability to place on hold any type of content stored in the IBM FileNet Content Manager, IBM Content Foundation and IBM Content Manager repositories, such as , unstructured documents (for example,.pdf, Microsoft TM SharePoint, and IBM Connections). A series of end-user experience enhancements improve the usability of the Atlas ediscovery Process Management application, which is part of the ediscovery Management solution. These enhancements include: Mobile device support for legal hold notices and custodian interviews. Ability to manage even more scale with improved large matter and custodian list management. Usability improvements that now allow users to execute column sorting on the most commonly used pages. Expanded ability to add attachments, record notes, and comments to legal holds. Usability improvements to the collection process. Improved process for releasing legal holds. New IBM Cognos Business Intelligence based reports Custodian-focused notice details report Custodian nonconfirmed hold notices report IBM Records and Retention Management solution overview Records and Retention Management makes it easier to manage a more strategic global records program and easier to enforce policies for retention and disposition across the organization and information environment. 3 both retention and disposition policies for paper and electronic records, which include unstructured and structured information. New with this release: New retention policy distribution connector for IBM Content Manager OnDemand. The Content Manager OnDemand repository provides high-performance electronic statement retrieval and enterprise report management. Content Manager OnDemand has native capability to execute retention and with this new connector for Content Manager OnDemand, the global retention schedule defined in the Atlas Policy Suite can now be distributed automatically to the Content Manager OnDemand repository for execution. This capability improves and organization's ability to comply with regulatory mandates, privacy law, and improve the efficiency and storage costs for Content Manager OnDemand by defensibly disposing of records no longer needed to be kept in accordance with the retention schedule. Enhancements to the retention policy syndication framework to distribute retention policy to the IBM Content Collector family of products. IBM Content Collector has native retention execution capability. The connector for distributing retention policy for Content Collector is shipped with Content Collector. New IBM Cognos report that displays the local schedule details and history. IBM Disposal and Governance Management for IT Disposal and Governance Management for IT provides capabilities for IT staff to categorize and catalog disparate data sources and the data source attributes including data type and structure, back up protocols, stewardship, business use, successor and predecessor systems, and organization affiliations. This product can help portfolio managers to sort through data source inventories by type, structure, location, stewardship, business affiliation, data content, age, or other profile information, and by system (or user) defined ratings of the data sources. When used in conjunction with the other IBM Information Lifecycle Governance (ILG) solutions described above, IT can have real-time visibility to the company's established legal hold obligations for each data source as well as the possible value or retention obligations associated with information contained in the data sources. Disposal and Governance Management for IT compliments the ediscovery Management and Retention and Records Management solution. When the solutions are used together, you gain the ability to provide information stakeholders in legal, records, and IT organizations a common view of information sources and a shared understanding about related legal obligations and business value to improve departmental efficiency, reduce risk, and enable disposal of unneeded information. Statement of direction Future deprecation of Atlas Policy Suite features The term deprecation is used to notify customers when a certain feature or features may be removed from an offering. Deprecation notifications precede the actual removal of the features. They allow customers to anticipate any actions which they deem to be desirable or necessary to accommodate the removal of the feature. The features described below will be deprecated as of this release. As such, they may be removed from future releases without further notice. Support for NT LAN Manager (NTLM) for authentication. Support for Tomcat application server. Support for JBoss Community Edition application server specifically. Note this has no impact to support for JBoss Enterprise Application Platform. Atlas User License Report: This report is no longer valid as a means of determining license usage and should not be used. Mapping of single preservation plans to a unique case in ediscovery Manager. 4 Features deprecated as part of earlier releases but not yet removed are: External repository feature that allows documents collected by Atlas IT ediscovery Process Management to be stored on the file system while only the metadata remains in the underlying Oracle database. Business Intelligence and Reporting Tool (BIRT) reporting framework: Reporting within IBM Atlas Policy Suite was historically enabled through BIRT (1) open source available through the Eclipse Project. As of Atlas Policy Suite V6.0.2, custom reports can now be developed using a new framework influencing Cognos Business Intelligence (2). Customers are encouraged to begin using the Cognos framework for developing new custom reports and develop a plan for migration of any custom BIRT-based reports to Cognos. An Authorized User is a unique person who is given access to the program. The program may be installed on any of computers or servers and each Authorized User may have simultaneous access to any of instances of the program at one time. Licensee must obtain separate, dedicated entitlements for each Authorized User accessing the program in any manner directly or indirectly (for example, via a multiplexing program, device, or application server) through any means. An entitlement for an Authorized User is unique to that Authorized User an may not be shared, nor may it be reassigned other than for the permanent transfer of the Authorized User entitlement to another person. NOTE: Some programs may be licensed where devices are considered users. In that case, the following applies. Any computing device that requests the execution of or receives for execution a set of commands, procedures, or applications from the program or that is otherwise managed by the program is considered a separate user of the program and requires an entitlement as if that device were a person. User Value Unit (UVU) UVU is the metric by which this program is licensed. UVU entitlements are based on the of users for the given program. A Proof of Entitlement (PoE) must be obtained for the appropriate of UVUs required for your environment as defined by the specific program terms. The UVU entitlements are specific to the program and may not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with UVU entitlements of another software program. UVU licensing offers you price benefits for customers by enabling a lower cost of incremental growth of resources. To understand these benefits of UVU licensing, and to determine how many UVUs to obtain for the program, contact your IBM representative. A Value Unit is a pricing charge metric for program license entitlements which is based upon the quantity of a specific designated measurement used for a given program. Each program has a designated measurement. The most commonly used designated measurement is a processor core. However, for select programs, there are other designated measurements such as users or resources which may include servers, client devices, and messages. The of value unit entitlements required for a program depends on how the program is deployed in your environment and must be obtained from a value unit table. You must obtain a PoE for the calculated of value unit entitlements for your implementation. The value unit entitlements are specific to a program and may not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with Value Unit entitlements of another program. At all times, the of users accessing the program or any component of the program in any manner, directly or indirectly (for instance, via a multiplexing program, device, or application server) or through any other means must not exceed your entitlement to use the program, as indicated on the applicable PoEs. 8 Authorized (AUVU): For selectively licensing internal users within your organization. The of AUVUs (Authorized UVUs) you require is based on the of authorized users within your organization that may access the program and/or whose user content may be analyzed using the program in any manner at set forth in the Authorized User Value Unit (AUVU) license conversion table.
