Several key staffing findings from Gartner s 2008 IT Key Metrics Data benchmark report are outlined in this report. The measures that follow highlight key IT staffing trends. In this analysis, we will explore 2007 IT staffing levels and details behind staff makeup, broken out by industry and geographic region. Some key findings to be addressed in this report: In 2007 North American and EMEA companies continue to dedicate a relatively high percentage of HR to IT, followed by Latin America. Traditionally, Banks & Financial Services companies have been among the most ITintensive employers, but in the past year we have seen a considerable increase for insurance and media firms, taking the top positions Between there has been a steady increase in staff required to support data center activity, however in 2007 it was down to 16%.

Traditionally, Banks & Financial Services companies have been among the most IT-intensive employers, but in the past year we have seen a considerable increase for insurance and media firms, taking the top positions..

But keeping contractors for extended periods can be costly and limit process standardization. Industry sectors most dependent on IT contractors include: Metal & Natural Resources and Energy.

Typically, applications activities demand the most staffing and there was an increase in staff dedicated to both application development and support in Between there has been a steady increase in staff required to support data center activity, however in 2007 it was down to 16%.
