Overview Two new products join the DB2 Web Query for IBM i family. DB2 Web Query Report Broker and DB2 Web Query Software Development Kit build on the popular query and report writing solution by adding enterprise-level report distribution and application integration capabilities. DB2 Web Query Report Broker enhances the reporting environment with automated report distribution. Planned availability date September 19, 2008 Description The delivery of information to business analysts is one of the most critical tasks that companies are faced with today. Automating the delivery of reports allows for a more manageable approach to this challenge. With automated report distribution, more timely reports are delivered to those who need it most, in the formats they are most comfortable with, while also minimizing the efforts of your IT staff to support requests for data. DB2 Web Query Report Broker enhances the reporting environment with automated report distribution. You can schedule DB2 Web Query reports through the easy-to-use graphical scheduler component of Report Broker. You can send reports to single users or multiple users through a distribution list or print or save the reports locally. Those reports can be formatted in any of ways, including PDF, a variety of spreadsheet-compatible formats, HTML, PPT, and more. Leverage the DB2 Web Query Active Reports with Report Broker to create automated report distribution for users "on the go" who need to work with reports in a disconnected mode. Report Broker can intelligently "burst" reports based on a sort fields, enabling you to run a single report, but breaking the report output into sections. You can then distribute those specific sections to users, as needed, based on that sort field. For example, you can print a regional sales report, with each sales manager getting only the section of the report associated with that manager's regional data. Extend DB2 Web Query to enable event-driven report execution and distribution through the Report Broker command interface. For example, you can set up reports to be run whenever a database-triggered event occurs, such as an inventory level going below a certain threshold. Business Intelligence is becoming an integral part of the day-to-day operations of every company. Having data available to business analysts and other end users without a dependency on IT means better productivity for everyone.
