10 Lessons Learned 1. Analysts can do more than just run queries and conduct analyses Analysts need to evolve into proactive advisors and project managers 2. Analytics is not the same as IT Analytics requires expertise in the art of analyzing and visualizing data while understanding the business priorities 3. Big gap between what is possible vs. what can be done today Continue to train and recruit analytics talent into the healthcare industry 4. Information Metabolism will be a critical success factor regardless of how much advancement we achieve in data analytics Consumers of healthcare data such as clinicians and patients must be able to relate with the information which will then lead to action and improved results 5. To fully leverage clinical data, new technologies are needed Ability to efficiently mine unstructured data and deploy Natural Language Processing will take analytics to the next level 9
