46 Project 3 : Move the capital from Hoa Lu to Dai La ( Hanoi now) Reason : Hoa Lu was geographically too small and difficult for commerce and urban development to flourish Hoa Lu is not a suitable place for plans of civic developments and economic growth within the realm of Ly Cong Uan (Emperor of Đại Cồ Việt) Dai La Citadel was an ideal location for the new capital since it was on flatland and surrounded by rivers and lakes, which was advantageous for transportation, commerce and military mobilization Duration: Started from July 1010 Completed after nearly half year Result: Dai La (changed to Thang Long Ha Noi as the present) now is the capital of Vietnam Hanoi is where the center of holding big cultural events Also where people in different external and internal regions to work and set up own business 4
