3 A potted history of SAP Before Est.1972 First Customer +33 years Today+ 5 ex IBM employees set the company up taking their ERP software design with them SAP is born Imperial Chemical S/4HANA introduced 03 S/4HANA 2.0 due for Industries (ICI) Feb 2015 release in 2019 alongside 1809 release bringing new functionality and features 3

4 So why did we invest now? We needed to see a clear line across each client recognising revenue over time We needed a technology platform which would provide the right stability, scale and functionality to build our global firm Our systems were out of date, not integrated and not fit for the future Our processes and ways of working needed improving to align us to a scalable shared service model 4

7 How it all started SWIFT is the implementation of a global ERP platform (S/4) and Global Finance Services (GFS). S/4 Implementation Single, global technology platform Global Platform: Standardized requirements Local Needs: Flexibility for local requirements Latest Technology: Utilizes SAP s newest finance ERP, S/4 The implementation of S/4 will provide the common platform infrastructure that is the foundation for future growth and globalization Global Finance Services (GFS) Finance Services, ITS ERP Support Common Processes: Leverages S/4 platform Sharing of Leading Practices: As adopted by GFS Increased Efficiency: Sharing resources and common tools & technology Member Firms 7

9 We followed a set of guiding principles The S/4 global template will be used by new internal customers Localization will be limited to legal, regulatory and compliance requirements as well as any local system integrations An integrated, business, finance and technology team will deliver MF migrations Brings together GFS and member firm teams Brings together all key functions The GFS service catalogue will be adopted by new member firms By default, a 'lift and shift' approach will be followed to reduce risk and ensure quality and consistency of service An onboarding playbook will be used for all future migrations Ensures consistency, repeatability and resource predictability Reduces time to rollout and associated costs 9

11 We learnt from our own lessons Strong program governance & oversight facilitates timely decision-making Sponsorship from SAP Executive Leadership is critical Executive Sponsorship visible leadership is imperative Brand New Software introduces Leading-Edge Risks Business Leadership involvement and ownership is a must In-person training investment is essential Proactive and strong PMO with ownership of outcome is required Business continuity despite the project Data conversion emphasis is non-negotiable Offshoring requires dedication Commitment to standardisation must come from all levels Tight governance keeps budgets under control Integration with existing systems must also work at go-live Journey to completion will be longer than expected Evaluating Cloud ERP is a must Single instance to reduce cost and complexity Globalization is inevitable Change Management activities always get de-prioritised Shared services to fulfill program s transformational goals Production Support to ensure smooth transition into operations 11
