1 By automating connectivity management, we accelerate device provisioning to customers. That alone is a percent time savings for Keaz. Tim Bos, Co-Founder, Chairman and CTO Keaz uses automation to accelerate device provisioning, prevent data overages, and rapidly scale their asset sharing platform to customers around the globe. Keaz helps businesses unlock real value in the sharing economy As the sharing economy comes of age, Keaz, an Australia-based technology company, is helping organizations large and small capitalize on the opportunity. Launched in 2013, the IoT-enabled Keaz sharing platform helps customers increase usage of shareable assets such as corporate vehicles, and deliver services to monetize those assets while reducing operating costs. The company s rapid growth has focused on vehicle pool management for corporations, rental companies, and taxicab and transport organizations. Keaz customers also benefit from related services such as enabling employees to pay for private usage of corporate vehicles or monetize their own vehicle by adding it to the corporate pool, as well as vehicle utilization management through the booking system. 2 The agility of the Keaz platform makes it customizable for nearly any vertical to leverage the sharing economy. An open set of APIs enables third-party companies and suppliers to develop their own system, sharing anything from bicycles to lawn mowers to meeting rooms. As a complete solution, the Keaz platform combines IoT-enabled telematics devices for shareable assets, along with mobile apps, a backend booking system, and connected services. Automating connectivity management For fast time to market and streamlined operations, Keaz relies on the Cisco Jasper connectivity management platform, Control Center. Control Center is central to how we manage all aspects of our solution, notes Tim Bos, Co-Founder, Chairman and Chief Technical Officer at Keaz. With automated rules to manage device connectivity, and real-time visibility and remote diagnostics to find and fix issues quickly, the company can confidently deliver secure, reliable services at the lowest cost. By automating connectivity management, we accelerate device provisioning to customers. That alone is a percent time savings for Keaz. While many companies want to leverage the sharing economy, implementing telematics is the biggest barrier for entry as it s the largest upfront cost. Keaz makes it simple and cost-effective for retail channel partners and end customers with a solution that comes prepackaged with SIMs and managed connectivity. With Keaz, they don t need to worry about organizing their own mobile carrier and getting their own SIMs. We supply everything they need for one price, explains Bos. The Keaz sharing platform helps customers increased utilization of corporate vehicles, and save on insurance, maintenance, and more

3 Transforming vehicle pool management A key benefit for customers using the Keaz sharing platform is increased utilization of assets, resulting in a cost savings across the board. Customers can reduce the amount of inventory required, save on insurance, maintenance, and more. Most of our corporate customers using the platform for vehicle pool management are realizing return on their investment within six months, which is incredibly fast. For example, a Keaz customer increased business-hours vehicle pool utilization from 30 percent to 80 percent, and was able to reduce their pool from 150 cars to 142 within six months. The average cost of a corporate car is $600 per month, so that s a savings of $4,800 per month, which is double what they pay for our service, says Bos. Vehicle sharing is also helping customers grow revenue after business hours. Instead of corporate cars sitting idle in the parking lot, employees can pay to rent a car to take home. This service provides a valuable way to monetize corporate vehicles and offset costs of pool management. For one Keaz customer, usage started at about rentals per month and quickly increased to an average of 90 rentals per month. In one month alone their rentals increased 70 percent, and the company expects it to keep growing. Accelerating productivity and controlling costs A relative veteran with Cisco Jasper, Tim Bos used the Control Center connectivity management platform in his previous company, as well as currently with Keaz. In fact, they were one of the first businesses in Australia to use Control Center, thanks to Cisco Jasper s partnership with mobile service provider, Telstra. The platform has enabled them to efficiently manage connectivity for all their telematics devices, powered by Telstra s Next G network, resulting in substantial cost savings and supporting their aggressive global growth strategy.

4 In addition to automating device provisioning, Control Center helps them manage data usage of devices and prevent unpredictable spend. Automated rules define maximum data usage limits, and in the event of rogue behavior, will automatically shut off devices to prevent data overages. At one point we received a bill from a mobile carrier that was much higher than usual because two SIM cards used a lot more data than expected. We went into Control Center and set data limits to automatically restrict those SIMs, giving us an immediate way to solve the problem and ensure it won t happen again. You can t do that when you ve bought SIM cards from a telecommunications company, notes Bos. Keaz also extensively uses Control Center APIs to quickly send and receive SMS messages to their telematics devices, such as enabling booking for shared vehicles, or waking up devices in low-power mode. Scaling rapidly to new global markets Keaz leverages Cisco Jasper s global network of cellular service providers for device connectivity around the world, serving customers in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Germany. Using Control Center, they also have the flexibility to turn on international roaming and ship devices to potential customers for trial use, without having to worry about onboarding a new mobile carrier in that location. This extensive mobile partner network means a small or growing company can quickly expand into new markets. Without the Cisco Jasper network of service providers, you ve got to go into different countries and repeat the cumbersome process of starting up the business and getting connections, which can consume all the results of a small business as you grow, says Bos.

5 To underscore how Control Center has dramatically streamlined their business, Bos adds, Life before Cisco Jasper meant no visibility for our SIM cards, negotiating with lots of different carriers across countries and regions, even using prepaid SIMs in some countries. Now we don t need to. We have immediate understanding of SIM card usage across all our devices, and integrated access to global networks.
