9 11. What is the difference between a BPO and an Application Service Provider(ASP)? BPO includes the software, the process management, and the people to operate the service, while a typical ASP model includes only the provision of access to functionalities and features provided or 'served up' through the use of software, usually via web browser to the customer. 12. What is BPO also called? Knowledge process outsourcing and legal process outsourcing are some of the subsets of business process outsourcing. 13. What do they mean by a back office? The term comes from the building layout of early businesses where the front office would contain the sales and other customer-facing staff and the back office would be those manufacturing or developing the products or involved in administration, but without being seen by customers. 14. What is a paperless office? This is a philosophy to work with minimal paper and convert all forms of documentation to a digital form. The ideal is driven by a number of motivators including productivity gains, costs savings, space saving, the need to share information, speedy retrieval and reduced environmental impact. 15. What is a Virtual office? It is a term for shared office services, which normally includes the provision of accounting, business address, registered office address, mail & courier, phone numbers, fax, answering, secretarial and web-hosting without the need for you to attend the office. It can also include meeting & conference facilities at times.

10 Moving Forward Once we have agreed to the outsourcing terms, 1300 bpo will put the foundations in place. We obtain some initial data from you to commence analysis. We commence working with your nominated representatives and structure a general overview of all functions. Together we reduce it to a short list of likely tasks. We then identify tasks and documented procedures and obtain a more detailed understanding of your business. Concurrently we work with other areas of your business such as your IT support area to determine any system requirements, which then can be completed while training is underway. Once the Site Overviews are completed, we review all the information and agree on the functions to be outsourced.

11 If onsite documentation is required, our staff will visit your offices for documentation to be completed. Any process and procedures not documented can be completed either prior or during an onsite visit. You will need to review and approve the documentation prior to implementation. Initially we will conduct a pilot handover phase of 1 or 2 weeks for example, with our staff following these procedures and completing tasks. These are checked by your incumbent staff for quality assurance. Once satisfied with the results we complete the task from that point forward.
