3 SAP Solution Manager: The SAP Solution Manager is SAP s service and support platform to help implement and operate SAP solutions efficiently. It support s you throughout the entire life-cycle of your SAP solutions, from the Business Blueprint to the configuration to production processing. SAP Solution Manager provides implementation content, roadmaps, tools and associated data to support SAP implementation projects. Implementation content comprises of predefined scenarios, business processes, configuration structures and documentation to accelerate implementation process. While, Roadmaps define standard SAP implementation methodology (like ASAP) which covers most important aspects and phases of an implementation project. SAP Best Practices for Chemicals Content for SAP Solution Manager: SAP Best Practices for Chemicals provide Chemicals industry specific scenarios with requisite documentation, master data and accelerators to ensure installation and execution of the scenarios out-of-the box with minimal efforts. SAP Best Practices for Chemicals content for integrated use in Solution Manager is provided as a template. This Template is available per Best Practices version (like a template contains content for SAP Best Practices for Chemicals V1.603 (Germany)). SAP Best Practices for Chemicals template presents scenarios and associated configuration in the following hierarchical structure: Chemical Industry Scenarios o Three-level hierarchy (scenario, process, process step with associated transaction) o Assignment of documentation (scenario description and overview, Business process Procedure) Configuration Structure o Two-level hierarchy (General Information and Scenario Configuration) o Scenario Configuration lists Baseline and Industry Building Blocks o Assignment of Building Block related documentation (Configuration guide, Development Master List) SAP Best Practices for Chemicals V1.603 Content for the SAP Solution Manager is available for download on the SAP Service Marketplace. SAP Best Practices for Chemicals Template can be downloaded by using following steps: Goto -> SAP Solution Manager and Tools -> Media Library ->SAP Best Practices Content Download the transport file for the relevant SAP Best Practices version and import the file into the Solution Manager 2010 SAP AG 3

4 SAP Implementation Project Options: Customers have the option of choosing either of the following two options for configuring and mapping their business processes in a SAP implementation project: Option 1: Standard implementation (with maximum flexibility) by using Implementation content available in Solution Manager. Option 2: Rapid Implementation with integrated use of SAP Best Practices templates in Solution Manager. System Landscape to support combined usage of SAP Best Practices of Chemicals Template and SAP Solution Manager in SAP Implementation Projects is depicted in the schematic attached below: A customer can set up their system (development or prototype) through integrated usage of SAP Best Practices for Chemicals Template in SAP Solution Manager by using following steps: 1. Import Solution Manager add-on with standard content and SAP Best Practices Template transports (can be downloaded from SAP Service Marketplace) into Solution Manager 2. Import SAP Best Practices add-on with objects for automated configuration (Solution Builder etc.) into Customer system(s) for implementation 3. Import relevant Solution Definition / Scope File (available through Quick Guide Note) & upload Installation data Files (can be downloaded from Service Marketplace) 4. Create customer project in Solution Manager and select SAP Best Practices for Chemicals Template (in Solution Manager) for defining the scenario scope in the Blueprint Phase 5. Scenario Scope decided in step 4 is used to execute Scoping in Customer System. This will create a Customer specific Solution. If required Enterprise Structure Personalization & Generic Personalization can also be done in Solution Builder. 6. Activate Customer System through Solution Builder. This will activate Building Blocks required to support installation of scenarios selected during scoping SAP AG 4

5 SAP Implementation Project management in Solution Manager with SAP Best Practices for Chemicals template involves following steps: Project Administration (Transaction SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN) Create a new implementation project in Solution Manager Select the relevant SAP Best Practices template Select and mark relevant SAP Best Practices for Chemicals scenarios Maintain systems with logical components and development systems Business Blueprint (Transaction SOLAR01) Refine Business Blueprint by analyzing selected scenario s attached documentation Re-Define scenario scope e.g. deselect scenario based on refined Project Scope 2010 SAP AG 5
