Contents 1. Project Introduction 2. PIMS/GIS Functionalities 3. Conclusions
Dolphin Energy Project Introduction As an operator of transmission pipelines in the United Arab Emirates and offshore pipelines in Qatar, DOLPHIN ENERGY (DOLPHIN) has decided to implement a Pipeline Integrity Management System (PIMS) in order to support its existing and future operational, in-service and corporate needs with regard to the management of pipeline integrity. The scope of the project involves various disciplines from the collection of data to the implementation of interfaces to external systems like SAP and a Document Management System. In any case a key aspect of the setup of an enterprise pipeline database is its connection to a Pipeline GIS and the implementation of algorithms inside of analytical PIMS modules.
Contents 1. Project Introduction 2. PIMS/GIS Functionalities 3. Conclusions
Data Interfaces The implementation incorporates three main interfaces to ROAIMS: Geographical Information System Work Order / Asset Management System Document Management System GIS DMS ROAIMS WMS/EAM
Pipeline Integrity Management Modules available to support all integrity management requirements: Data Integration Risk Assessment for screening and prioritization FFP Assessment (immediate actions from defect analysis) Corrosion Growth (future repair and inspection planning) Diagnosis of Threats (e.g. performance of the CP system?) GIS (Intrepid) Task Management
Data Integration As-build data Inspection data Time component included (e.g. for consecutive inspections) Audit Logs
Risk Assessment The Risk Model is structured to answer three basic questions: Which threats are active? Will the active threat result in a leak or a rupture? What is the company liability in the event of a failure? To prioritize the system for maintenance and inspection activities an assessment has to be carried out both for active threats and for the consequences of a failure. Dynamic Segmentation Threat assessment based on rules derived from applicable codes and industry best practice, e.g. ASME B31.8s Suggestion of verification and mitigation procedures for all identified threats
Risk Model Execution Exercise Based on Client HSE Risk Management Document a Risk Assessment model is being designed DYNAMIC SEGMENTATION RESULT VIEWS Dynamic Segmentation RISK MODEL DEFINITION Model Execution Risk Results Calculation per segment ISO Risk Result Risk Matrix Threats: Internal corrosion External Corrosion SCC Event Tree CoF
FFP Assessment The new Feature Assessment version combines ROSOFT capabilities with latest technological advantages of the ROAIMS framework. Fully centralized database environment for all ILI and related information (e.g. from field) Statistics, Pivot Charts, Location Sheets (GIS) Integration with Work Order Management System (SAP) On-the-fly tracking of repair state (GIS) Defect editing and updating Comparison of assessment methods Expression & Rules
Corrosion Growth Process: ILI runs girth weld alignment Feature matching based on box matching and clustering strategies. Determine & verify matched features Classify/differentiate between internal and external corrosion features Estimate the change in feature dimensions Failure Depth (%wt) Corrosion Growth and Impact on Future Integrity FAILURE REPAIR SAFE MAOP Safety Factor x MAOP Calculate the CGR in the depth dimension (1 st order effect on part-wall to through-wall failure) Axial Length of Corrosion Features Produce the internal and external CGRs as segmentations along the section Outcomes: Corrosion Rate Calculations Remaining Life Calculation of the pipeline
WMS Interface Plant Maintenance (SAP PM) Work Order creation (Priority, Status, Due Date, ) in ROAIMS Work Order updates in SAP Dynamic update of new attributes Sub Tasks MS Outlook BizTalk Maintenance History
EAM/DMS Interface Enterprise Asset Management (SAP EAM) Asset or Tag Number as common key in all systems Asset status update coming from SAP to feed multiple systems Attribute updates in SAP triggered by GIS
WMS/EAM/DMS Interface - Key Learnings Advantages: Integrated Systems Fast Decision Making Process Reduced amount of Software Systems Challenges: Major integration engineering activities Increased testing (FAT/SAT) Advanced Know-How required
GIS Intrepid
GIS Intrepid Interface ROAIMS and Intrepid use Common Database Model (Pipeline Open Data Standard) ROAIMS: Integrity Assessments, Analysis and Comparison Intrepid: Pipeline GIS Asset Editing Tool Risk & Integrity Records Inline Inspection Data Aboveground Surveys ROV / Free Span Records Strain Data Rehabilitation & Verification PODS Core Tables Facilities Location Engineering Data
GIS Interface Key Learnings Advantages: Combined GIS / Risk Assessment Platform DB Maintenance is reduced Reduced amount of Software Systems/ Interfaces ( e.g. RA, CP, DCVG, SAP, Arc GIS, Defect Assessment, etc.) Challenges: Depth Know-how in house needed Time Consuming during developing phases Increased on-site clarifications
Contents 1. Project Introduction 2. PIMS/GIS Functionalities 3. Conclusions
Conclusion Project Outcomes: A fully scope compliant State-of-the-Art Pipeline Integrity Management Software Integrated Environment including a State-of-the-Art Asset Management Solution Future flexibility to extend the system to complete client network A package that is implemented at some of the Major Pipeline Operators around the world Standard GIS/PIMS product developed ( ROAIMS-Intrepid)
