9 Chapter 1: Getting Started This section contains the following topics: About the CA Clarity PPM Business Objects Universes (see page 9) Business Objects Universe Attributes (see page 10) CA Clarity PPM Reports Overview (see page 10) Launch a Business Objects Universe (see page 10) About the CA Clarity PPM Business Objects Universes Use the Business Objects universes for CA Clarity PPM to create and customize reports without having to know the intricacies of the data model to report. You can run a query to display information from the following universes: CA PPM Investments (see page 11) CA PPM Investment Financials (see page 65) CA PPM Resource (see page 101) CA PPM Timesheet (see page 113) Each universe can use BusinessObjects InfoView's Web Intelligence for front-end, web-based reporting. You can use InfoView to generate your own reports using any one of the four universes. Additionally the universes can be used to develop Crystal reports queries. Each Business Objects universe uses CA Clarity PPM as the back-end database. All universes connect to CA Clarity PPM through a connection object. Many core CA Clarity PPM tables are added to the universe unlinked. These CA Clarity PPM tables are aliased in the universe and only these aliased tables are used and linked to other tables in the universe. Using unique table prefix aliases for each universe ensures that if two universe are linked they will not have ambiguous table names. Note: Because these tables are not linked, the Integrity check in the Universe Designer will note them as a structure divergence. Chapter 1: Getting Started 9
