2 Description Most financial institutions realize that integrating and upgrading their heterogeneous systems and business applications moves them a giant step toward achieving their business goals. This is especially true for: Financial institutions that have recently merged, and so must consolidate diverse product portfolios and application sets IT centers that serve several financial institutions, and must be able to provide a wide variety of applications while keeping the data of their various customers completely segregated In addition, financial institutions that currently use the X.25-based SWIFT Transport Network (STN) are required to migrate to the new SWIFT Secure IP Network (SIPN). According to recent studies from the Boston Consulting Group, payment processing represents 35% of a bank s revenue stream and 40% of a bank s cost structure. Furthermore, financial institutions must do this in an environment where reliability, availability, and resilience are paramount. addresses exactly these issues. WebSphere Business is a business integration platform that serves as messaging hub from which any number of financial applications can share centralized message-processing services, especially services that provide centralized access to various financial networks such as the SIPN, FEDNET, RadianzNet, and clearing and settlement systems such as RTGSplus, Fedwire, CHIPS, and EBA STEP2. Having many applications share such services reduces the cost, complexity, and time needed to implement each application. The consolidation, centralization, and reuse of message-processing services results in increased productivity and simplified operation, which in turn result in cost savings. uses the following established IBM middleware to improve overall stability and to allow you take advantage of special capabilities: Message Broker WebSphere MQ DB2 Universal Database consists of a base product, plus additional, optional extensions. The base product provides a collection of easy-to-use message-processing services that enable customers to centralize common tasks such as: Controlling access to resources Recording audit data Logging events Storing messages The extensions are collections of additional, special-purpose services that extend the capabilities of the base product, for example, access to specific financial networks. Product information Ordering information Licensed function title Product group Product category WebSphere Business WebSphere WebSphere Business The charge unit for for is Value Unit. New licensees Message-based pricing: Pricing for WebSphere Business is based on the volume of message units used by a licensed user. A message unit is defined as a transaction external to. Such transactions are typically measured when leaving and entering the network or network access controller (such as the SWIFTAlliance Gateway), and when leaving the network or network access controller (such as the

6 SWIFTAlliance Gateway) and entering WebSphere Business. Importantly, a transaction may constitute a single message unit even though the transaction includes multiple messages. For example: A single SWIFTNet FIN message unit may consist of The FIN message, and The acknowledgment message from SWIFTNet (ACK in case of a positive response) On the other hand, a business service may consist of multiple transactions that constitute multiple message units. For example: When a SWIFTNet FIN payment order gets confirmed by the receiving bank, this constitutes two transactions and two message units. The volume of message units that is relevant for pricing purposes is the total number of monthly message units a licensed user sends and receives using WebSphere Business based on the peak monthly message volume from the preceding twelve (12) months. Initial pricing Initial pricing will be calculated based on either: The customer s peak monthly messages from the history reports the customer provides for the preceding twelve (12) months, or The customer s estimation of its anticipated peak monthly message volume If initial pricing was based on a customer s estimate, the customer shall utilize the message counting procedure identified by IBM to create a message usage report either from the audit log the fourth working day of each month during the first six months or another message usage reporting mechanism agreed by IBM for extensions developed external to IBM. The customer agrees to send these 6 message usage reports to IBM in the seventh month for assessment of the monthly message volumes. If the peak monthly volume is higher than the estimate used in initial pricing, the customer will be charged for additional licenses. Subsequent pricing/annual adjustment: The pricing for the second year and subsequent years will be reassessed based on relevant message-based usage reports provided by the customer. Appropriate pricing for the following year will be determined based on the peak monthly volume in the preceding 12 months. In addition to the annual maintenance fees for the product originally licensed, additional license and maintenance fees will apply if the peak monthly volume is higher than the volume used in the prior year pricing calculation. IBM Electronic Services is a Web-enabled solution that provides you with an exclusive, no-additional-charge enhancement to the service and support on the IBM eserver. You should benefit from greater system availability due to faster problem resolution and preemptive monitoring. IBM Electronic Services is comprised of two separate but complementary elements: IBM Electronic Services news page and IBM Electronic Service Agent. IBM Electronic Services news page provides you with a single Internet entry point that replaces the multiple entry points traditionally used by customers to access IBM Internet services and support. By using the news page, it enables you to gain easier access to IBM resources for assistance in resolving technical problems. The IBM Electronic Service Agent is no-additional charge software that resides on your IBM eserver system. It is designed to proactively monitor events and transmit system inventory information to IBM on a periodic customer-defined timetable. The IBM Electronic Service Agent tracks system inventory, hardware error logs, and performance information. If the server is under a current IBM maintenance service agreement or within the IBM warranty period, the Service Agent automatically reports hardware problems to IBM. Early knowledge about potential problems enables IBM to provide proactive service that maintains higher system availability and performance. In addition, information collected through the Service Agent will be made available to IBM service support representatives when they are helping answer your questions or diagnosing problems.
