As the world s leading supplier of Data and Analytics staff, this is an exciting time for us. In an era where data production has reached an incredible 2.5 quintillion bytes per day, the demand for people to analyze, manipulate, model, and derive insights from this data is bigger than ever. With bicoastal offices, our reach and capabilities span the US, so we ve spent much of this year adding more excellent recruiters to our specialist teams to meet the demand for top talent. 4 page 4 TREND WATCH Delve a little deeper into the topical market trends we have uncovered. The intersection between Data Science and cyber security is going to be an area of industry development in 2017, changing the way online threats are dealt with. 65% of our San Francisco based clients are businesses that are less than eight years old. Model validation is becoming a more indemand skillset due to CCAR compliance regulation demands. Marketing analysts are increasingly required to have a deeper understanding of a greater number of digital platforms. 76% of our clients plan to expand their analytics teams in 2017 (from our poll at the Big Data Conference).

The growth of shortterm lending has continued with the emergence of peertopeer lenders massively disrupting the industry. The parameters of standard banking have come up against this quick, easy, and feasible alternative. The forecasted success for aspiring P2P lending platforms is bolstered due to increased speed in application processing and reduced time to access funds. This need for faster processing technologies that enable more adhoc queries in realtime has seen vendors who can support and empower Big Data professionals compete for those brands who are immersing themselves in data analysis. In 2017 and beyond, companies of all sizes will be creating strategies to extract greater value from IoT and dark data using cloudbased applications to reduce costs and increase flexibility for a more comprehensive view of performance. This leads to more robust and secure BI tools with a focus on minimizing operational risk. The advances in visualization software have led to an increase in demand for candidates who have commercial experience working with tools like Tableau or Qlikview, as organizations are seeking more visual, responsive reports to generate business insights. Companies who have historically been driven by their Data now see the benefits of an algorithmic approach to all aspects of their business. Building a centralized Data Science department is proving to yield strategic opportunity, and as such, competition for talent is fierce. This competition is prevalent both through the hiring and job search processes, as each graduating year brings a slew of highly talented individuals with Masters and Ph.D. degrees to the marketplace. Those businesses who fail to fully embrace online Data will struggle to remain competitive. It is not good enough to pull out of the box reports from Google Analytics anymore. Commonly, a digital analyst is now expected to be a statistics wizard, an implementation specialist, and everything in between.
