1 Principal Toolbox Release Notes 9.5 Release 9.5 of the Principal Toolbox offers several new and improved functionalities in the field of project and portfolio management and resource management. Furthermore, the main focus also lies on quality and performance improvement. What is new In the Principal Toolbox 9.5 it is possible to link hourly rates to skills. In the previous versions, this was only possible for resources. Linking hourly rates to skills gives insight in the total planned costs of hours. The total planned costs of hours are visible next to the other costs in the Gantt of the project. What changed The most visible change can be seen in the Gantt on portfolio. The new Gantt editor works with different colors to clearly distinguish projects, programs, portfolio and the single sheet projects. Also, it is possible to start initiatives from the Gantt and you can add or remove columns in the Gantt (for example, you can add a column with project information). Furthermore, you can now easily create a snapshot of the Gantt and save it as an image or PDF file. The new Gantt is also available on folders. Using different colors gives a clear overview of all dependencies between projects or products. Other changes Next to the changes mentioned above, some other adjustments have been made as well. Available again is the possibility to add images to your projects. Furthermore, you can add labels to the bubbles in your bubble chart. Also, most of the pop-ups have become dialogs in the newest version of the Principal Toolbox. Important information Release 9.5 requires JVM 1.7. For on-premise installations, please check the update information. The application should be at least on for updating to 9.5. Below are the detailed release notes for the 9.5 releases. 2 Report views without results do not lead to a login prompt in automated Excel reports Coördinators of functional modules can archive and restore objects Folder Managers can archive and restore projects In the geo widget the project location can again be set in Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 and Edge. The export values of all boolean fields are now consistently set to 'true' or 'false'; previously sometimes the values '0' and '1' were returned. Editable custom fields of the type timeline generate one entry per edit Work Package owners can now edit plan-item information on the detail pages of the plan-items in the Work Package. Note: this feature is enabled by a feature toggle; please contact support for more information. Readers on portfolios can no longer edit fields that are configured as 'editable before project start'. If a filter is used on the portfolio Gantt, that filter is now also applied when creating a PDF from the Gantt. Added a new version of the Excel template that solves the issue that report could 'freeze' on specific keywords for specific customers. Number columns are again correctly shown in Automated reports for Excel versions and above. Number columns showed a wrong format when the Excel locale was different from the Toolbox locale. When filtering views on a 'role field' (that is all fields you can find under 'Edit Members'), it is now also possible to filter on user groups. 3 In (newly created) Automated Excel Reports, custom fields of the type 'Rich Text' are now shown with formatting. See the manual for information on which formatting is preserved. Accountable hours on time sheets are again shown as configured in the filter. The plan item details page can again always be opened from the project Gantt. In a project, planned resources can again be related to a 'resource pool' (an organisational unit with resource management enabled). Custom timeline fields that are recalculated on changes in a date field, now always lead to correct negative entries. Time sheets of external users show timesheet rows again as configured. Import tasks no longer generate unjustified errors when matching on fields of the types "value" or "memo" In the geo widget the project location can again be set in Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 and Edge. The web hook triggered by starting a project is no longer triggered when creating an initiative Portfolio items can no longer be created at the Gantt on Custom Dashboards. Portfolio Support can again consistenly select report models of portfolio models. Preselected time sheet rows now show only NPA's of the NPA sets that are defined in the Resource Management Configuration. 4 Plan item owners can request document approval Managers and readers of folders and OU's will see the correct project tabs (as defined in Role Permissions). Gantt charts work correctly again with Chrome versions 61+. The financial grid will now adjust column widths to accommodate large values. Document approval reminder s are sent correctly Plan items are no longer automatically approved when importing start and end dates on them. In Chrome, the header of the Gantt Chart is always shown correctly The import function of the MS Excel client has been improved. Note: this function can be used to transfer Automated Reports to a newer version of the MS Excel Client. In Automated Reports, when you use multiple views underneath each other, you can format these views as tables. In (newly created) Automated Excel Reports, custom fields of the type 'Rich Text' are displayed without formatting. Automated Reports work again in Excel for Mac version , in combination with the FCC Excel client version Improved performance of the Advanced Search function. Note: you will now have to select an object type to search Classic projects can now be migrated in bulk In Resource allocation, allocation on NPA s is moved from the Tab Availability to the Tab Request & Allocation (Resources). With this change, all allocation can be done in one tab.
