3 Certification Introduction: Certified Milestone Solution Partner (MSP) products are proven to fulfill two characteristics that all commercial MSP solutions have in common: the full advertised scope of the integration is present and functional; and with reasonable guidance and training, systems integrators can feasibly install and integrate this solution. These two characteristics are judged according to four main factors: functionality, usability, performance and the integrator s assessment. The rating of Technoaware with respect to these four factors is described in this document. Products Tested in this Certification: The following list contains the tested versions of the products and components from both Milestone and Technoaware which were included in this MSP certification. Milestone Products XProtect Corporate 5.0a, 4.1a and 4.0b XProtect Enterprise 8.0d XProtect Smart Client 7.0a, 6.0d and 5.5b Technoaware Products VTrack Technoaware Video Analytics Summary: The Technoaware system uses a combination of areas and gates drawn by the operator or administrator on the field of view for each camera to define the locations and parameters of more than 14 different analytics algorithms. When these analytics are triggered, the system sends a TCP/IP message to the Milestone system on port 9090 which triggers the response from the Milestone system. There are other analytics within the Technoaware system which aren t meant to trigger responses immediately. These analytics build a database for further analysis and insight, accessed through an Apache web server by pointing any web browser at the address In this example the localhost address is the IP address of the VTrack server. The combination of these two methods of reporting both triggering real-time events and building a database allows Technoaware analytics to be used in a number of scenarios. Technoaware VTrack Milestone Integration Summary: The integration between the Technoaware system and the Milestone system is accomplished in two processes. The end result is a prompt display of the analytics alarm in XProtect Smart Client. The two processes are: 1. Video Streaming video from the Milestone server is sent to the VTrack server for analysis; the vtinterface application uses a Video Source object to define the connection parameters. 2. Alarm Linking when analytic detection is triggered by the live video a message is sent from the VTrack server to the Milestone Analytics Event Server which then triggers an Technoaware - MSP Certification Summary document 3

4 event. Configurations in the vtinterface application Event Sender module defines where the messages are sent and in what format. Events can be linked to any number of other actions or alarms. 5 Certification Criteria Conclusion: All of the integrated functionality was able to be achieved with the latest version of the Milestone XProtect video management software (VMS) products. Usability of this integration is very high, and with some additions to the documentation it would be all-around excellent The performance of the Technoaware and Milestone integrated solution is quite remarkable and stands out as one of the most promising aspects of this product for both the health of an installed system and the profitability of the integrator s efforts to sell and support systems where it is included. In addition, there are no negative characteristics to the Technoaware VTrack product if looked at from the integrator s perspective. All of these factors combine to make the solution very feasible for Milestone s channel to execute successfully. Below are the results from the four certification criteria items. The Technoaware solution has passed all four elements and has thereby passed the certification. Functionality: Pass Status: 5 out of 5 items of functionality were demonstrated without error: 1. There are no adverse performance effects on the Milestone system and its components. Usability: Pass Status Notes Operation: Interface is either in XProtect Smart Client or any web browser. Configuration/Installation: Installation and configuration are both very simple; advanced parameters could use more illustration. GUI: Interface is based on standards and is very intuitive. Hardware Complexity: No hardware complexity introduced, and options are extremely flexible. Documentation: Documentation should be updated to reflect the latest Milestone XProtect products and to increase the level of detail on the topic of advanced parameters.
