12 Focus on Webscale Computing : software-defined DC Scalability is the ability of a system, network, or process to handle a growing amount of work in a capable manner or its ability to be enlarged to accommodate that growth. Some main trends: Towards lean and low cost data center infrastructures. The Reactive Manifesto: new development tooling and frameworks and new programming model. DevOps: a culture of change automation of release management and operations standardization Functional Programming Event Driven Architecture Lean, Low Cost Software Defined DC Agile Development & Deployment Scalability and Service Continuity Atos Productive Development Environments 12

14 From traditional IP management to IP Factory

15 IT Services : a complex landscape Paradigm shift from a mostly labor based model (sale of bodies/projects/manhours) to a reusable asset model. Bundled IP assets constitute service platforms operated as a black-box require protection through a combination of all available legal titles or other measures (patents, trade secrets, copyrights, defensive publication). Patents increasingly are used for strategic purposes in addition to other legal titles e.g. traditionnally trade secrets - to ensure protection of Atos own IP and to ensure access to needed or useful 3rd party. Patent ownership has become more vital to companies active in the IT service business, following global trend of increased patenting in all technology domains. In the next years, Europe will become a new patent battle field due to the unitary patent taking effect in 2014.
