1 Employer Connection version: Dear <<HR Admin>>: We are pleased to announce we are updating our membership and claims systems to an enhanced platform already used by more than 70 health plans across the country. These updates to our business and technology platforms will improve the way that we provide service to you. Key benefits of the new membership and claims system include: Faster, more accurate claims processing and payments Quicker enrollment and coverage for new members New online tools for more convenient benefits management A more streamlined billing process with a single bill Changes you will notice, effective August 1, 2013 You ll soon receive: A new account number for billing purposes A new group number that replaces your current customer number New subgroup number(s) that replace your existing billing unit(s) A consolidated bill with an improved format and a tear-off remittance slip A new customer service contact phone number What will change for Blue Shield members? Your employees will receive: A new member ID card with a new subscriber number, effective August1st New customer service phone numbers, which will appear on the new member ID card A new dental ID card with a new subscriber number (as applicable) All of these changes will take effect August 1st. [Placeholder (Dental only): If you ve been receiving a separate bill for Blue Shield dental HMO coverage, you can expect to receive one bill for medical and dental coverage starting August 1 st. The August medical bills should be mailed at the end of March and arrive on or about August1 st.]

Here s what you can expect for August bills: You will receive a separate bill for vision coverage for August and should pay as you normally would In some situations, you might see an August medical bill with a reference to your vision plan, but with a $0 premium listed for vision. With the newly enhanced version of Employer Connection, you ll be able to: Make real-time* member updates, such as adding or terminating coverage Manage your group s medical, dental, vision, and life insurance membership Download and review current and past Blue Shield invoices Order member ID cards Enter your employees open enrollment selections upon renewal
