2 Description

3 IBM (WDME) will securely deliver rich media, digital video, audio, and images, to your employees, Business Partners, and consumers. It can also generate new revenue through an improved business model that allows you to sell and distribute digital content more effectively and efficiently than standard fulfillment processes. With online sales and multiple payment options, including purchase order, credit card, and subscription method, WDME can enable you to make content immediately accessible to team members, as well as external buyers and clients. WDME dynamic Web technologies leverage multiple systems and databases of information. Unlike static content, which uses the server as a storage device for an entire file and must be edited individually in the appropriate software application, WDME pages separate out the logic, data, and presentation layers, which allows presentation and learning logic to be authored once on the server and used in many instances for delivery. The online content management system with e-commerce capabilities can streamline your business and reduce the sales cycle. By automating the data management and sale of your content, you can free up valuable staff time and resources. Your digital assets can be available for purchase and download 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. What was once a service business taking three to five days from start to finish, is now a Web self-service application taking only minutes. WDME also offers rich, online collaboration features. Creative teams can use media folders to select, review, discuss, and purchase content over the Web. Real-time collaboration allows your team to work together, regardless of where they are located, reducing time zone frustrations and encouraging a faster turnaround. Your digital assets are important assets of your business. As such, they need to be protected from unauthorized use. WDME allows you to use watermarking features, text overlays, or both to ensure that your valuable intellectual property is used only by those who purchase it through the proper channels. Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act IBM is capable as of April 4, 2003, when used in accordance with IBM s associated documentation, of satisfying the applicable requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, provided that any assistive technology used with the product properly interoperates with it. Product Positioning Under the umbrella of WebSphere, WDME is an open-technology framework comprised of IBM e-business infrastructure that can help all types of companies manage, store, protect, and distribute digital video, audio, and images. Trademarks WebSphere is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation in the United States or other countries or both. Java is a trademark of Sun Microsystems, Inc. Develop the appropriate skills now to support your continuous revenue generation from your assets. IBM will engage the appropriate mix of project experts and solution specialists from its software services consulting teams to provide the following services in support of WDME V5.4.2: WDME Skills Transfer WDME Implementation Services Custom Services The WDME Skills Transfer affords you the opportunity to implement, and then customize a WDME solution. During a skills transfer, you can learn core WDME installation, configuration, and customization tasks, as well as have the opportunity to discuss specific WDME implementation topics with experienced IBM solution specialists. Learn from the experts who developed the solution. A typical skills transfer engagement begins with two days of lecture that highlight the solution architecture, components, tooling, software, and skill requirements. Depending on your participation in IBM PIC WebSphere Commerce workshops, or any prior experience you may have had with the WDME solution, IBM s services teams will be more than happy to adjust the lecture outline to suit your specific level of training/knowledge. After completing the lectures, IBM solution specialists will initiate the mentored portion of the engagement. You will start the training by following the WDME Installation Guide, with appropriate pointers provided by your IBM solution specialist, to install WDME on a simulated environment, namely one that already has the requisite infrastructure software installed and configured. Throughout the installation process, you are encouraged to seek specific assistance from your mentor, the IBM solution specialist. The installation exercise is followed by a day of structured training that covers core WDME customization and administration topics. The lab exercises are designed to maximize your time by enabling you to discuss WDME customization, to conduct specific customization tasks, and then to review your outcome. After completing the skills transfer, you should have developed the fundamental skills needed to assess the implementation of WDME on your production system. A typical skills transfer requires up to 70 consulting hours. Once you have determined WDME is right for you, IBM can help you integrate it with your existing infrastructure. The WDME Implementation Services are designed to enable you to define your hardware and software requirements, to validate your business requirements, and after having documented each, to support your installing, configuring, and then customizing WDME software to align it with your business requirements. IBM, through its software services teams, will work with you to verify that your hardware, software, and skills are adequate to support the implementation of WDME. Having validated your requirements and verified your infrastructure, IBM solution specialists will assist you to adapt WDME to ensure it is properly integrated with the registration fields, data model, and site design of your e-commerce store. After testing your customized code on a test environment, preferably one created in one of IBM s software labs, IBM solution specialists will guide you through the installation and configuration of your customized code on your host system. The solutions specialists conclude the engagement by providing an overview of core administration you will need to know to support the solution post-implementation. A typical implementation engagement requires approximately 750 consulting hours, but it can be tailored to suite your particular requirements. A streamlined engagement, one where only WDME is installed on pre-configured software, is likely to require 100 hours of assistance. In addition to the above standard offerings, IBM s software services teams can provide custom WDME services. All custom services must first be scoped and defined by an IBM services team before they can and will be proposed by IBM. IBM services representatives will work with you to discuss, assess, document, and refine your requirements so that they may present a statement of work to you outlining the requisite services. Your review and acceptance of this statement of work must precede the start of any custom services. Whether you select one of the standard services offerings or pursue custom services, you will be charged for time worked and materials provided. The total labor charge will be calculated using IBM s standard consulting rates for your geographic region, and all travel and living This announcement is provided for your information only.
