Selected Visualization Solutions 16

1. Reduce Access Block in A&E 1. Problem - Long waiting time, patients have to wait a long time in A&E even after being diagnosed and confirmed to admit to hospital - Difficult to identify individual patient waiting - Different to redeploy supply based on demand 2. Solution - Near real time patient view of A&E at a glance - With auto alert s to hospital management if waiting longer than defined period - Dynamic resource deployment 3. Implementation - Agile development - Java + SQL Server - Responsive Ajax: jquery - Visualization: FusionChart 4. Outcome - Complete, HK-wide A&E service view - Help patients transfer across wards & hospitals - Improved patient care 17

A&E Dashboard 1. No. of Patients Awaiting 2. Consultation Time 3. No. of Access Block Developing Data Visualization Capability Hospital Authority Hong Kong Alert Admission info for major specialties. 18

2. Visualize Patient Journey 1. Problem - Manual process on textual info, over 60 million laboratory reports - Disparate data across patient history - Exact match search limit capability to find similar result - Lack of holistic view by associating lab results with whole patient journey to facilitate clinical decision making 3. Implementation - Noble Coder to process lab reports - SNOMED-CT for terminology standardization - Hadoop for data analytics 2. Solution - Illustrate patient journey history by integrated view of all medical data (lab, admission, discharge, etc) with related diseases and treatment - Intuitive data visualization to convert text view info various graphic displays - Convert free-text, unstructured lab reports into structured clinical entity for fuzzy search - Link search result with patient demographic for clinical analysis and decision making 20

Patient Journey Visualization Different type of view for different perspective

3. Protect our e-hr Platform 1. Problem 2. Solution - Over 95% of cyber traffics are attacks - Difficult to trace and analyze resource of attack, time, pattern and types - Traces are immersed in large amount of log files - There are too many types of log files in a complex system like HK s e-hr 3. Implementation - Logstash: input and output parser of all data - Elasticsearch: indexes all data and make it searchable - Kibana: Visualize interface for log data - Collect all log files and event data in a centralized repository - Convert unstructured log data into structured data - Make data searchable in fast and meaningful ways - Cost little using open source 4. Outcome - Shorten incident investigation time, reduce from 6 hours to 10 mins - Plot different timeline to predict the trend and prepare action - Utilize powerful analytics to recognize data patterns and summarize data dimensions - Will fully deploy before
