1 ADVERT The Bridge London Trust Multi Skilled Technician Full Time Salary in the region of 35K The Bridge London Trust is a Multi Academy Trust which is at an exciting point in its development. The Trust presently consists of three special schools. A mainstream primary school will be joining the Trust early in 2018 and another special school is presently consulting on joining the Trust. We are interested in receiving applications from suitably qualified Multi Skilled Technician from all sectors who have been working as a Multi Skilled Technician for quite some time, including those who have experience of working in public schools or academies. This role will report directly to the School Business Manager. Applicants will need to evidence that they are proficient in Masonry, Carpentry and Plumbing. 3 JOB DESCRIPTION Position: School: Department: Multi Skilled Technician The Bridge London Trust (All Sites) Facilities Management Responsible to: School Business Manager- Facilities Grade: PURPOSE OF THE POST To support a team of Multi Skilled Operatives, provide technical support and advice, undertake repair and refurbishment work across the Trust property portfolio to ensure the physical environment of the premises is satisfactory for users; to promote the efficient use of the Trust s assets to support the educational objectives of the establishment and the activities of other site users. The position will assist The Trust in developing their extended schools agenda and will therefore require flexible working. MAIN DUTIES Key Responsibilities To undertake all work to the highest standard possible and in line with current best practice and corporate guidelines. Repairs to windows, doors, fitting restrictors to windows, fitting door closers, replacing rotten sections of windows. Constructing partitions to various types of rooms for subdivision Various on-site fabrications of fixed benching, boxing, etc Re-cording sash windows. Fitting replacement windows. Repairs to various items around sites, such as fences, gates, benches, furniture, etc. Undertaking basic repairs to brickwork and concrete structures including lintels, and steps. Rebuilding of damaged furniture, modification of existing furniture. Page 3 of 7

4 Major repairs to windows / doors. Working with contractors and other trades within the Maintenance Team to deliver projects and planned maintenance. Undertaking all other carpentry works, not previously specified above, as directed by the Facilities Office. Maintaining sufficient stock of materials to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the carpentry section Masonry Plastering, bricklaying, screeding, tiling, excavation and drilling, maintenance and use of abrasive wheels equipment, basic plumbing. Carpentry Use of planer, circular saws, dust extraction equipment, pillar drill, and undertaking repairs to wall finishes, tiling, general joinery, woodwork, basic plumbing and masonry, maintenance and use of abrasive wheels equipment. Plumbing Welding, brazing, lead work, repairs to domestic hot/cold water supplies, clearance and repairs to soil and associated waste water systems, patch repairs to wall finishes, tiling MAINTENANCE 1. To be responsible for maintaining constant awareness of the physical condition of the building, furniture, fittings and equipment and where appropriate repairing/reporting defects or requisitioning work for repair, including authorising invoices for payment in accordance with financial regulations. 2. To undertake maintenance and repairs to the premises within the scope 3. To complete and or review all statutory testing requirements. 4. To assist in the provision of a safe and healthy environment for all site users. Where delegated to do so by the Head of Establishment. 5. To manage the efficient operation of the establishment s heating system; monitoring the use of the heating and lighting system and promoting cost consciousness and energy conservation within the establishment.+ 6. To carry out internal and external cleaning of certain defined areas as directed by the Line Manager, including where applicable: grounds and play areas, external toilets, internal glass, walls, removal of graffiti and undertaking defined holiday cleaning duties. 7. To carry out emergency cleaning duties where necessary, and/or as directed. Page 4 of 7

To undertake general porterage duties as required and particularly the provision of furniture and other equipment for timetabled activities to meet the needs of premises users, without continued direction. 9. To provide and replenish toilet paper, toilet soap, sanitary requirements, hand towels and other drying facilities (but not internal toilet cleaning, except in emergency situations). 10. To maintain operation of the premises miscellaneous duties of a practical nature as circumstances demand, at the request of your line Manager. MANAGEMENT 1. To plan and prioritise own work allocation according to the needs of the site as determined by the line Manager. This will include providing the line Manager in advance with a weekly log of main tasks to be performed during the forthcoming week and providing/maintaining any other necessary records. 2. To be responsible for monitoring the quality of the service provided by the contractor(s) according to the standards set out in the contract specification and any additional standards given for the individual site, where delegated to do so under the direction of the Head of Establishment 3. To be responsible for checking stores/equipment deliveries against invoices/delivery notes and porterage duties to ensure they are correctly stored/distributed. 4. To liaise with the Line Manager/Contractor/Council staff (as necessary) to ensure that any deficiencies in the cleaning service provided by the contractor are reported to the appropriate person. 5. To plan, prioritise, allocate, manage and supervise the work of in-house cleaning staff, ensuring holiday periods and other absences are adequately covered. SECURITY 1. To ensure the security of the site and its contents and the provision of access and exit to the site and buildings for authorised persons. PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1. To carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post, in accordance with The Bridge London Health and Safety Policy and relevant Health and Safety Legislation. 2. To take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. 3. To undertake training as appropriate. 4. E.2. Driver s license Experience and confidence in working with a range of different materials, systems and plant. E.3. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of people, including the Headteacher, other school staff, students, parents, other agencies and the local community E.4. Understanding of building maintenance requirements and the ability to undertake repairs E.5. Ability to provide data for computerised asset management systems E.6.
