5 Overview All Senior Aluminium products are designed with meticulous attention to detail and are available either in aluminium or a hybrid timber/aluminium composite. Our aluminium sections can be thermally broken and powder coated in virtually any colour in our in-house powder coating facility, one of the largest and most technically advanced in the country. Senior s systems are designed and focused on the UK market, seamlessly conforming to UK architecture and Building Regulations. We are able to react faster to any last minute design changes, giving you greater flexibility. Environmental Senior Architectural Systems is fully compliant with BS EN ISO 9001, BS EN ISO and OHSAS Standards. Our products, when used on projects involved in a BREEAM assessment, or within the Code for a Sustainable Built Environment and the Code for Sustainable Homes (which therefore involves the Green Guide to specification) can offer significant benefits. 8 Tynecastle School, Edinburgh SPW600 windows (casement & tilt/turn) SD doors SMR900 curtain wall Tynecastle School plays a pivotal role of delivering educational needs to the Gorgie district of Edinburgh and has since The achievement of a BREEAM Excellent accreditation was primarily through the implementation of core sustainable ideals by using natural and recycled materials, energy saving and environmental technologies. Noise pollution from adjacent roads and railway lines together with solar orientation and level access were main factors of consideration when developing the building layout and optimising functional arrangements, to combine both old and new schools. 08

10 Tesco, Maryhill Glasgow SMR900 curtain wall This 24-hour megastore, built on stilts, was one of the most complex construction projects ever for Barr Construction. Constructed over an eight metre void at a disused railway line, the store and adjacent concessions were elevated to accommodate a 500 space underground car park. Investment in the area has provided welcome employment and it is hoped further regeneration will follow. 10

12 Wallace High School, Stirling SMR900 curtain wall SPW300 windows SD doors Wallace High School, founded in 1971, recently expanded into new buildings on Airthrey Road, which provides excellent educational facilities in a light, bright environment to facilitate learning in optimum surroundings. This was provided by using high performance curtain walling and large windows by Senior Architectural Systems with solar shading. All classrooms are well equipped and there is a high level of IT resources, to serve the local community. 12

15 Overview The Hybrid family consists of the Series 1 range of traditional composite windows and doors, Series 2 comprising a contemporary collection of commercial slimline windows and Series 3 composite curtain wall system. Hybrid combines the advantage of the long life and low maintenance of aluminium externally with all the benefits of engineered timber internally. The product is designed and manufactured within the UK, and is fabricated by an approved network of UK companies. The range meets and exceeds all current standards, making it an ideal solution for both new-build and refurbishment projects where site measurement is required. Hybrid features either natural or painted timber internally. Externally, Hybrid offers a choice of finishes in polyester powder paint - virtually any RAL colour in either gloss, satin or matt. 16 Bathgate Partnership Centre, West Lothian Hybrid Series 3 curtain wall Hybrid Series 1 double open-out doors Bringing council and community services together under one roof was achieved in the new 7million Bathgate Partnership Centre, and incorporated a library, community centre, advice shop, offices and meeting space together with a landscaped garden complete with an orchard. Building Design Partnership specified Senior Architectural Systems Hybrid Series 3 curtain walling to achieve impressive vistas from the new Simpson Library housed in the centre. 16

18 Glasgow House Hybrid Series 3 curtain wall Hybrid Series 1 doors An innovative concept by Glasgow Housing Association in conjunction with PRP Architects to build four prototype houses to help reduce fuel poverty and lower the cost of living for their tenants was the starting point for the Glasgow House which features high standards of insulation, coupled with low energy running costs and simple technology. Windows and sun rooms were designed using Senior s Hybrid high performance timber composite curtain walling and doors to capture the energy of the sun, with details to prevent overheating. 18

20 Venture Building, Glasgow Hybrid Series 3 curtain wall Hybrid Series 1 flush casement windows The Venture Building was designed and constructed to an Excellent BREEAM rating and provides flexible open plan and laboratory accommodation with a stunning three storey atrium with feature bridge link. Designed to be naturally ventilated in accordance with CIBSE guidelines with generous floor to ceiling heights, it uses Senior Architectural Systems Hybrid timber composite windows and curtain walling, giving a contemporary, well designed and airy feel. 20

22 Private House, Lenzie. Glasgow Hybrid Series 3 curtain wall Hybrid Series 1 doors and windows A contemporary new build extension to a 1930 s traditional house, using Senior Architectural Systems Hybrid range of timber composite systems, ensured a successful way of bringing the internal accommodation into the wonderfully idyllic setting of a mature well-stocked garden. A full height glass curtain walled gable end maximised the available light, space and view, together with doors onto the patio area for entertaining or relaxing. 22

24 East Kilbride Golf Club Hybrid Series 3 curtain wall Hybrid Series 1 windows The new golf clubhouse, caddy store and professional shop were built to replace the previous one which was destroyed by fire. It was designed as a single storey low rise linear building to minimise its visual impact on the landscape. It features a glazed entrance foyer using Senior Architectural Systems Hybrid timber composite curtain walling with direct views through the lounge to the first hole and beyond. 24

26 Musselburgh Primary Care Centre Hybrid Series 3 curtain wall Hybrid reversible casement windows SD doors The 12million, 6,300m 2 Primary Care Centre for NHS Lothian provides extensive accommodation for three GP practices, along with paediatric and adult outpatients services and a number of clinical and dental facilities. Incorporating Senior s thermally efficient Hybrid curtain wall, reversible casement windows for ease of maintenance and SD doors, the Hybrid system met the aesthetic and performance requirements demanded by the architect achieving a BREEAM excellent rating. 26
