2 Northern Strands About Us Northern Strands is comprised of the following divisions: Mining (Mine Hoisting Solutions), General Rigging, Engineered Fall Protection, Suspended Access and Training. All of our equipment goes through a rigorous inspection and recertification process each time before it leaves our shop to ensure that our equipment will provide the most dependable solution for your needs. Our suspended access solutions have been used on sloped roof buildings, glazing applications, sheeting, insulation and concrete restoration, surface and underground in the mining sector along with many other uses throughout Saskatchewan and Western Canada. The Northern Strands highly trained technicians are periodically trained to keep updated with the equipment manufacturers changes and upgrades of the equipment and technology and to enable them to be the leaders in the suspended access industry. Northern Strands is fully committed to provide the best on-site services and support to all of our customers. This has helped a large range of companies complete projects on time, with safety being at the forefront of every task and application we are asked to provide. Suspended ACCess Northern Strands has a large and diverse Suspended Access Rental Division. Northern Strands has provided at heights access solutions for the past five years at numerous locations across Canada. Capabilities: Suspended access training. Onsite technical assistance with all suspended access rigging and setup ranging from simple to highly engineered set-ups.

3 Fall Protection Northern Strands offers a variety of fall protection systems, solutions and services. Custom-engineered solutions can be designed to suit specific requirements. The Fall Protection Division is able to provide the following services and equipment: Inspection and replacement services for overhead and vertical lifelines. Consulting, supply and installation services for single point anchors, guard rail systems, walkways and platforms. Structural assessments. All installations are completed in accordance with OH&S, CSA and other applicable manufacturer and industry standards and regulations. Some of the services that the Fall Protection Division has provided to customers over the years include: Perform inspections of railcar overhead lines at grain load out facilities and at numerous potash mines. Install and inspect vertical lifelines on ladder installs at various locations. Consulting services to assure OH&S compliance for several crown corporations and health regions. In-house fall protection engineering services. Training Northern Strands Training Division offers several courses that aim to increase the workplace safety and make you compliant with the latest Saskatchewan OH&S legislation. Courses offered: Fall Arrest Crosby Rigging Tugger Safety Confined Space Wirelock Socketing First Aid/CPR-C Our instructors have been trained by industry leaders such as Crosby, Miller, and Capital Safety to name a few. Flexible scheduling [is] available, including evenings, nights and weekends. Courses are recognized provincewide, and designed to educate you on legislation from The Occupational Health & Safety Regulations, Fall Protection: Lifeline Training: Fall Arrest

4 Rigging/Warehouse Northern Strands Rigging Division is a full-service facility operating out of Saskatoon and Regina with the ability to fabricate custom chain and wire rope slings up to 1-1/2. We have a vast inventory of synthetic lifting slings, chain hoists, lever hoists, shackles, trolleys, winches (tuggers), and other general rigging hardware. Our network of suppliers and in-house expertise is leveraged for the benefit of our customers. Capabilities: Northern Strands has Saskatchewan s largest inventory of wire rope available from 1/16 to 2 in standard sizes and 5.5mm to 26mm in metric sizes. Large selection of rigging products. 7 Mining We offer a wide range of services to the mining and construction industries; from exploration drilling, steel erection, piling, and concrete work to decommissioning. We perform site assessments and create safe work procedures to complete jobs, whether through a custom procedure, the design of a new piece of equipment or a combination of both. Fortis has access to the necessary engineering, manufacturing and testing facilities to complete this work in-house. We have the versatility to mobilize a single crew for multiple facets of work. 8 Manufacturing & FabriCAtion Fortis manufacturing facilities offer machining and welding services as part of the entire fabrication process. Fortis machines many of the custom mining attachments required by our clients including chaseblocks, cheeseweights, swivels and sockets. Fortis welding shop has fabricated numerous custom products and equipment for customers as well as equipment that is used by Fortis, including safety barriers and reeling machines. With access to a manufacturing shop and support from our engineering department, we can design and build solutions to our customer s needs. Fortis also offers sandblasting and painting services for new products as well as for refurbished equipment. We are able to prioritize and bring things on line quickly, hence, meeting tight schedules. We are continually expanding our recertification capacities and abilities. Fortis will also provide on site services for assembly and disassembly of equipment for mine shaft access. Our experienced mechanics understand the regulations regarding the operation of underground mining equipment.

9 Engineering Fortis Engineering Services team consists of engineers and technicians that are not only strong in fundamental sciences, but also experienced in practical solutions. Our design and consulting teams offer services in mechanical and mining engineering. One of the advantages Fortis has is the ability to link our people onsite with our design team. People in the field recognize when there is a need for safer ways to perform the work we link them with the engineering team and together they design solutions that mitigate risk and create a safer working environment for everyone. Many of the engineered products sold by the other Divisions are built in-house which enables us to provide a one-stop solution for our customers. We will provide a test certificate for every piece of equipment we recertify. CMC is the number one choice in Saskatchewan for pull testing recertification.
