The contractor has advised that hessian lining as suggested in the Finishes Schedule is not an ideal solution and the existing timber battens should be skimmed V18 HG Room M04 - Floor: Defrass and remove decayed timber wall plate against the north wall and carry out works to support the bearing ends of the existing joists with hardwood or steel packers down to the masonry and new stainless steel joist hangers fixed to the new concrete beam, as appropriate to each situation. Recent opening up works to complete services installations have found a decayed timber wall plate in the north wall, which supports the floor joists bearing ends.
