1 SUMMARY OF PROPOSED CHANGES KERN COUNTY FIRE CODE The State of California has adopted portions of the 2009 International Building Code, the 2009 International Residential Code, and 2009 International Fire Code, which became Parts 2, 2.5 and 9 of Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations, titled the California Building Code, the California Residential Code, and the California Fire Code. Sections and of the Health and Safety Code authorize the County to make amendments which are considered reasonably necessary modifications based on local topographical, geological or climatic conditions. In accordance with Section of the Health and Safety Code, local amendments have been proposed. The "Kern County Code Section" and the "Fire Code Section" numbers represent the appropriate references in the corresponding codes. The "Summary" contains a brief description of the change that occurs in the amended section. 7 Kern County Code Section Wildland Urban Interface Code Section Summary Chapter 5 Chapter 5 of the Kern County Wildland-Urban Interface Fire Code has been deleted, because the regulations contained within the California Building Code and California Residential Code comprehensively, precisely and practically outline preventative and mitigative measures New Materials, Processes or Occupancies Which May Require Permits Violations - Penalty This section has been added to be consistent with the Fire Code requirements addressing subjects not regulated in the code. This process will allow for new products, and new technologies to be reviewed and evaluated to determine their equivalence to the code requirements.
