Shop drawings for gantry structural steel, including foundation anchor bolts, shall be submitted to the Engineer for review and approval. Construction Tolerances: Gantry height tolerance at completion of construction shall be 2" (~) measured from the highest point of the road under the gantry to the bottom chord centerline. The tolerance between centerline of drilled shaft and center of anchor bolt group (centerline of gantry column) shall be 1 ". Gantry Erection: Toll Gantry overhead truss assemblies are equipped with bolted end strut/brace members to allow for erection of the truss assembly with post members in place. Overhead truss gusset plates shall be protected during erection operations. During erection, if end strut/brace members are temporarily removed, temporary bracing shall be provided as indicated in the plans. Temporary bracing shall be placed prior to erection operations and shall remain in place until end strut/brace members are fully bolted in place. End strut/brace members removed for erection purposes shall be fully bolted in place prior to placement of the truss assembly on the post connection plates. The Contractor shall have the option of erecting the toll gantries onto shaft foundations fully assembled. Gantry erection shall be performed within work durations defined in the Traffic Control Setup and Takedown Special Provisions. TOLL GANTRY DESIGN PARAMETERS AND EQUIPMENT MOUNTING REQUIREMENTS Equipment loading for toll gantry design is based upon the following assumed equipment types and counts: Antennas: 1 each centered over each lane and 1 each positioned over each lane line. Cameras and illumination strobes: 1 each centered over each lane and one centered over large shoulders (over 6' in width). Gantry overhead truss transverse rotation from level: in fully loaded condition, rotation to be limited to 0.2 (~) degrees from level. Gantry overhead truss - deflection criteria: in fully loaded condition, deflection of truss element to be limited to L/150 where L is the truss span length. Gantry natural frequency/resonance: 40 Hz upper bound on natural (resonant) frequency of the gantry and gantry individual members. 8'-0" (typ.) Foundation lateral deflection: Using single drilled shaft foundations, shaft maximum lateral displacement = " measured at ground surface. Maximum roadway cross slope at toll collection line: Maximum fall from the high point of road is limited to 30". Minimum clearance between gantries and other major infrastructure: A distance of 30'-0" is to be held to other major structures that may cause interference (e.g. signs, roadway lighting, etc.) TRANSVERSE TRUSS ELEVATION EQUIPMENT SPACING ENVELOPE Not To Scale COMBINED EQUIPMENT LOADING PER LANE LOAD CASE Py Vx (kips) (kips) Group I-DL Group II-DL+W (wind normal to truss) Group II-DL+W (wind parallel to truss) Group III-DL+Ice+ (W) (wind normal to truss) Vz Mx My Mz (kips) (k-ft) (k-ft) (k-ft) Group III-DL+Ice+ (W) (wind parallel to truss) COMBINED EQUIPMENT LOADING PER LARGE SHOULDER (EXCEEDING 6' IN WIDTH) LOAD CASE Py Vx (kips) (kips) Group I-DL Group II-DL+W (wind normal to truss) Group II-DL+W (wind parallel to truss) Group III-DL+Ice+ (W) (wind normal to truss) Vz Mx My Mz (kips) (k-ft) (k-ft) (k-ft) Group III-DL+Ice+ (W) (wind parallel to truss) MAXIMUM EQUIPMENT DESIGN LOAD (SERVICE LOADS) DESIGN FEATURES RELATING TO CONSTRUCTION OR TO REGULATION AND CONTROL OF TRAFFIC MAY BE SUBJECT TO CHANGE AS DEEMED NECESSARY BY THE DEPARTMENT 2'-0" 4'-0" C L Truss C L Top chord C L Bottom chord Equipment spacing envelope (see notes) The depth of the steel conduits in the drilled shaft shall be determined in the field by Electrical Contractor. For additional conduit information, see toll and traffic management plans. Scanners: Up to 3 each centered over each lane and one centered over large shoulders (over 6' in width). Enforcement Beacons: 1 each centered over each lane. Y-axis Z-axis into page Steel conduits in drilled shaft concrete shall not be bundled together. Equipment mounted to the gantry overhead truss shall be fully contained within a placement envelope as defined in the Transverse Truss Elevation Equipment Spacing Envelope, this sheet. Submitted equipment parameters falling outside of this envelope shall be subject to the review and approval of the Engineer and may be subject to rejection. Design loadings for equipment mounted to the gantry overhead truss shall fall within maximum acceptable load groups, as defined in the Maximum Equipment Design Load Tables, this sheet. Sign conventions are defined in the Truss Elevation - Equipment Load Axis Definition detail, this sheet.
