1 Overview The elements are: 1. Lay hard surfaces 2. Construct free-standing walls 3. Install hard landscape features and structures 4. Construct pools and water features 5. Construct rock gardens This unit is covers a wide range of functions involved in hard landscape construction. The unit requires all work to be carried out by you, not by you supervising others. Throughout the unit you must demonstrate you can work effectively with others colleagues, subcontractors and clients. Hard surfaces include: 1. concrete 2. tarmac 3. sets and block paving 4. flags precast or natural paving Walls are: 1. mortared brick walls 2. stone walls Structures cover 1. sports and play equipment 2. small sectional buildings Pools are to be constructed from 1. puddled clay liners 2. fibreglass in situ 3. concrete in situ 4. irregular shaped preformed or precast 5. butyl or PVC liner Rock work covers 1. outcrops 2. scree and moraine 3. valleys 4. cascades LANAHL24 1
