Capillary Concrete Bunker Edge Installation Instructions 1 It is very important to have uniform depth of excavated soil edge before starting installation. The Capillary Edge will require a minimum of 20 cm of depth of the excavated edge, and more if a higher lip is required. The 20 cm depth will be enough for a 2-4 cm lip and if a higher lip is required, just add the required cm to the 20 cm. The Capillary Concrete needs to be at least 15 cm high at the edge, essentially forming a curbe to support the edge. 2 Create a vertical wall of Capillary Concrete covering the wall of the bunker bottom and up to 5 cm from the bottom of the surrounding grass surface. The vertical Capillary Concrete needs to be the same 5 cm depth as the general base depth, and it needs to be well compacted with a hand trowel from top and side.

3 A well-shaped vertical edge blends in well with the environment and prevents any kind of encroachment in the bunker of grass and roots. 4 The Capillary Concrete must be allowed to cure a minimum of 24 hours before application of Capillary Edge. If the Capillary Concrete is still moist, it must be dried to ensure proper adhesion of the glue. This can be done with carefully applying heat to the surface and gently drying out the inside of the edge. 2

5 Carefully clean the rim and make sure that any loose material is removed. 6 Cut the Artificial Grass in stripes of 10 cm width, or wider if a higher edge is required. The length of the stripes is determined by the top line of the bunker edge. If it is level, stripes can be as long as 1 meter or slightly longer (3-5 feet), but if the top line is of various heights the strips may have to be much shorter. Measure the strips before applying glue and make sure the alignment is possible without creating an edge that does not correlate to the top line of the bunker. 3

7 Thoroughly mix the two components for the glue. Prepare no more than what the crew can apply. The glue hardens in about 30 minutes - please review the instructions on the packaging! The glue must be two component adhesive for outdoor use and be able to withstand frost temperatures. 8 Apply plenty of glue on the strip of artificial grass 4

9 Apply plenty of glue on the vertical wall of Capillary Concrete 10 When gluing the artificial grass you may need to secure the artificial edge material with small nails to keep it in place. Please be very careful the two materials are connecting well! Don t hammer the nails all the way in as they should be removed after the glue has hardened. 5

11 Apply the artificial grass so that it sticks up about 3 cm above Capillary Concrete and is in line with the bottom of the surrounding grass surface. This overlap is what catches the outside water and prevents it from running into the bunker sand. Fill up the bunker with sand. The bunker can be filled as high as you want, even up to the top of The Edge as desired to create the desired look. The area between the artificial edge and the surrounding grass will fill in with grass in time, but may have to be cleaned from time to time to ensure proper ability to catch overflow water. 12 This is a schematic overview of the final installation. Please note the way the overflow water is collected at the edge to prevent washouts. 6

13 There are several different types of material to use to make a Capillary Concrete Edge. Here an example of natural coconut fibers on artificial backing. When artificial grass is used, it is very important it has a high quality yarn and backing, and does not easily collapse. It must have some brown yarn in it to look natural in all seasons and imitate sod edge as closely as possible. 14 This artificial turf is a great example of a green/brown yarn that works very well to replicate a natural sod edge. Any local producer may be used as long as the look and quality is appropriate. Please refer to Capillary Concrete Head Office for approval and control of product. 15 Capillary Concrete recommended glue: GREEN PUR PLUS two-component polyurethane adhesive for synthetic sports surfaces
