3 THE NILE CO. HERITAGE & QUALITY THE NILE CO., FOUNDED IN 1942, IS ONE OF THE LARGEST MANUFACTURERS OF HIGH QUALITY CEMENT AND TERRAZZO TILES IN EGYPT & THE MIDDLE EAST. ITS PRODUCT RANGE INCLUDES HANDMADE ENCAUSTIC CEMENT TILES, DOUBLE- LAYER AND SINGLE-LAYER TERRAZZO TILES, DECORATIVE OUTDOOR AND PAVEMENT TILES, AND NATURAL QUARTZITE STONE TILES FOR INDOOR AND OUTDOOR USE. A pioneer in the cement tile industry, the Nile Co. is continuously developing and upgrading its products and manufacturing techniques by adopting the most up-to-date technology in the field. Vertical expansion all along the supply chain has enabled the Nile Co. to control every aspect of the production process; from the extraction of raw materials to the transportation, processing and manufacturing of the tiles; thus ensuring the quality and consistency of their finished product. They are currently the only Egyptian manufacturer to produce tiles that can handle up to 240/cm 3 and have a production capacity of 4000 sq.m. per day, which is unmatched by any of its local peers. The Nile Co. has supplied a vast range of projects and clients, from large-scale public projects to sports clubs, schools & universities, and hospitality, commercial and residential projects. Its list of clients and projects is a testament to the trust and confidence placed in its products by some of the largest and most established architectural consultants and construction firms in the region. The company was founded by Ibrahim Abdel Hafiz, a pioneering Egyptian industrialist who personally ran its operations for over 60 years. 4 STONE With its unique pattern variations, color depth and textured surface, quartzite brings a natural beauty to indoor and outdoor environments. The distinctive tiles are used on floors and walls as claddings in facades, terraces and gardens, indoor flooring and decoration, and are available in a range of neutral colors. Quartzite is a metamorphic rock formed by the alteration of sandstone due to heat, pressure and chemical activity. Its rough surface is textured and uneven, which gives it a unique and beautiful appearance. The interlocking crystalline structure of quartzite makes it an incredibly strong, tough, durable rock. Quartzite is resistant to acids, alkalines and salts, and provides superior insulation against extreme changes in temperature and humidity, which makes it an ideal material for coastal areas. It insulates against heat, cold and water and is electricity resistant. It is also easy to clean and does not discolor with exposure to weather conditions over time. Harder and more resistant to stains than slate and even granite, quartzite is superior to both in many uses. While frequently compared to slate in appearance, quartzite is more durable, stronger (handling loads of up to 2000kg/cm3), less absorbent and is more resistant to most chemicals and environmental conditions than slate. 6 7

Cement mortar should be of a semi-liquid consistency and of a thickness of at least 2cm. White cement should be used for grouting, with constant cleaning during installation. Quartzite tiles may be sealed with a clear epoxy layer to keep tiles clean and prevent staining and discoloration. Quartzite tiles should be regularly cleaned and maintained to extend the life and beauty of the tile. The tiles can be cleaned with a PH neutral mild detergent. Staining may occur if the tile is left unsealed. Spills should be cleaned quickly to lessen the degree of the stain. Do not use abrasive cleaners, powders, scouring pads, steel wool or sandpaper.
