READ INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS IN ENTIRETY PRIOR TO BEGINNING INSTALLATION! Introduction Galaxy Fit & Ultra (tiles) Installation Manual Robbins Galaxy Fit and Ultra products are manufactured in a dual layer format. The top layer consists of a colored virgin blend rubber with accent colors added, calendared and then vulcanized to a bottom layer blend of SBR recycled rubber. The slip-resistant, matte finish top wear layer is very durable and provides a non-porous, safe, resilient floor. Tile size: 35.5 x 35.5 Available thicknesses: 1/4 (6mm) 5/16 (8mm) 3/8 (10mm) Galaxy Ultra Square edge or interlocking Galaxy Fit NOTE: Galaxy (tiles) are manufactured of high quality materials and carefully inspected before shipment, however, a quality installation is the responsibility of the installer. The installer needs to verify the accuracy of the order, and materials need to be inspected for damage, defects and satisfactory color match (there may be a slight color variation from the sample provided) prior to installation. An authorized Robbins distributor must be immediately notified of any damages, color differences or product irregularities prior to installation and final adhesive application. Galaxy (tiles) are designed for interior installations only and is not recommended for environments where the product will be exposed to oils or petroleum based materials. Handling & Storage of Materials The Galaxy (tiles) will arrive on ends on a pallet. Care should be taken when unloading to avoid any damage. Adhesives or surface preparation product containers should be unbroken with labels intact until time of use. Prevent damage or contamination to materials by water, moisture, freezing, excessive heat, foreign matter or other causes. Tiles should be removed from pallets and any loading/shipping constraint pressures be removed in order to acclimate to room conditions. Galaxy (tiles) should be stored on site with adhesives, etc., for at least 48 hours on ends. Work from all other trades must be complete, especially overhead trades, before installation can begin. Rubber tiles are susceptible to dimensional changes due to temperature and climate conditions. It is vital that site conditions remain constant within the acceptable working range. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight as UV rays can alter appearance of colored rubber.

Installation Materials Tools Robbins Galaxy Fit or Ultra (tiles) Galaxy Adhesive only use Robbins StrataSport, solvent free, 2-part urethane adhesive, StrataSport adhesive coverage rate sq.ft. per unit Robbins color-match caulk Sharp utility knife & spare blades Carpenter square & straight edge Measuring tape Chalk line (for layout) Markers (to indicate cut lines) Rubber gloves/safety glasses Fine bristle broom/vacuum 2 x 4 and rubber mallet to align roll edges Drill & Jiffy mixer for adhesive 1/16 x 1/16 x 1/16 (1.5mm x 1.5mm x 1.5mm) square notch trowel 75 lbs (45 kg) minimum sectional roller 2 (50mm) high quality masking tape (to secure seams) 2 x 4 x 8 Concrete utility bricks (for weighting seams) Sub-Floor Preparation The installation of any resilient rubber flooring is only as good as the sub-floor it is laid upon. This is especially true when the flooring is glued down. Rough and uneven sub-floors can diminish the appearance, cause uneven top surfaces and shorten the life span of this flooring. We recommend proper preparation of sub-floors as follows: Existing Flooring Do not install Galaxy (tiles) over existing flooring without approval from Robbins. Wood Floors New wood sub-floors should be CDX exterior plywood installed smooth side up with seams touch sanded smooth and leveled to a tolerance of 1/8 in (3.2mm) in 10 ft (3.05m). All nails, staples or screw fasteners must be caulked or surface sealed. Plywood should be acclimatized for a 48-hour period prior to installation of Galaxy. All wood sub-floors must be clean and dry of all dust, dirt, and previous floor finishes. Patch cracks, holes, and rough or uneven areas with an appropriate leveling compound approved to manufacturers standards.( i.e. Galaxy Adhesive) Wood moisture content should not exceed 12% Concrete Floors Ensure sub-floor is smooth and level to a tolerance of 1/8 in (3.2mm) in 10 ft (3.05m). Ensure concrete floors have cured for minimum 60 days.

It is vital that a moisture test be completed prior to floor installation. Moisture is the single most significant factor that causes bonding failure to the sub-floor. Moisture tests must be performed on all concrete floors regardless of age and grade level. Concrete Moisture Using ASTM F2170, the In-Slab Relative-Humidity Test, the slab must not to exceed 85%. Testing with a Tramex Moisture Encounter, the slab must be below 4%. At least 3 tests should be conducted for 1 st 1000 sq.ft. of flooring and 1 test for every 1000 sq.ft. thereafter when testing. If the moisture test results do not meet the requirements, additional dry time or a moisture mitigation system is required, 1 or 2 coats of Primer 1610, depending on moisture levels. If test results exceed limitations or hydrostatic pressure exists, the installation must not proceed until the problem has been corrected or an approved vapor barrier underlayment is installed. All test results must be kept on file and be accessible upon request. Concrete Prep Ensure existing concrete floors are clean, dry and smooth. Remove any wax, paint, varnish, adhesive or any other material that would prevent proper bonding of adhesive. Repair any low spots with a portland cement based patch mix or Galaxy adhesive. Fill and smooth any rough or porous concrete sub-base prior to installing flooring. Note: If concrete sealers, curing compounds or floor hardeners have been applied, the surface must be mechanically prepared prior to adhesive application to ensure proper bond. Adhesion tests are recommended prior to installation. Concrete floors with Radiant Heating System: Floor surface temperature must not exceed 75 F (24 C) during normal operation. System should be operating before and during installation. Cutting Galaxy (tiles) Use Caution. Galaxy (tiles) can be cut with a utility knife using a straight edge or square as a guide. Round holes can be cut using a hole saw or fine tooth jigsaw. Installation of Galaxy (tiles) Before work commences, examine the areas to be covered and report any flaws or adverse conditions to the general contractor and/or architect. Do not proceed with installation of Galaxy until substrates and conditions comply with the requirements indicated in manufacturer s instructions. Room temperatures for installation must be maintained at a minimum 60 F (15 C) to a maximum 75 F (24 C) and a relative humidity 65% or less for at least 48 hours before installation. These conditions must be maintained 24 hours per day for the duration of the installation and for a minimum of 72 hours after installation is complete.

1. All Galaxy (tiles) must be dry laid in the area in which they will be installed under anticipated environmental conditions for a minimum of 24 hours. Before placing the material, sweep and vacuum the entire area. 2. Locate the mid-point of the room and chalk a start line down the center of the room. Measure over from this line and chalk another line for the edge of the starter row. Begin installation from this chalk line to the outside perimeter. 3. All tiles should be layed and installed in the same direction to ensure consistent pattern repetition. 4. Dry lay the entire floor, then view the floor under normal, occupied environmental and lighting conditions. The materials must acclimate a minimum 24 hours, maybe longer in cooler temperatures. All materials must be lying completely flat before proceeding with installation. IMPORTANT: It is the installer s responsibility to inspect the dry laid materials and notify the appropriate authority of any imperfections or irregularities prior to final adhesive installation. 5. Dry lay the first roll along the chalk line and make any required custom cuts to fit the floor. 6. Mix one unit of the 2 component Strata adhesive for 2 at least 2 minutes. The adhesive should be uniform in color with both A & B components thoroughly mixed. Spread adhesive on the floor with notched trowel beginning at the starting line, approximately 37 wide. At proper coverage rate. Lay the tiles into fresh adhesive, ensuring that it is correctly positioned to the start chalk line. 7. Tiles must be laid in wet adhesive and rolled with a sectional roller in both directions within 15 minutes to ensure proper transfer of adhesive. 10. Repeat this process, staggering each adjacent row by 17.5 (1/2 tile), this will create a brick pattern. 11. To help ensure a tight fitting seam when butting one tile to another, use 2 wide 3m 233+ tape to pull the seams together. NOTE Under no circumstances should a seam adhesive or heat gun be used on the seams. 12. All seams should be secured by using masking tape across the seam onto adjoining tiles on all sides. Typically 12 in (300 mm) long at typical 16 in (400 mm) centers or as needed until the adhesive has cured. Note: Never use duct tape or high grab masking tape. Duct tape adhesive chemically reacts with the flooring surface and leaves a permanent residue. 13. After tiles are properly laid and secured with tape, all edges and seams must be weighted (sufficiently weighted down with concrete bricks, 2 high is standard, until adhesive is cured, to ensure proper bonding of flooring to sub-base. IMPORTANT: The seams should not be weighted until after the floor is rolled and the seams are tight, level and taped. This process must be complete within 30 minutes of spreading the adhesive. NOTE: Grey concrete utility bricks, 2 x 4 x 8 are the only suitable weights to be used. 15. The bricks must be put directly onto the seam in a continuous row. 16. No wood or other material should be used under the bricks to attempt to transfer load.

17. Cut rolls neatly around fixed objects, and to fit irregular and fill-in spaces using a sharp utility knife. Make repeated passes when cutting to ensure straight cuts. 18. Flooring installed around any irregular or sloped surface (i.e., around drains), should be weighted with bricks to ensure proper bonding of flooring to adhesive. Any excess adhesive appearing on the top surface of the roll should be immediately wiped clean with a soft rag soaked in denatured alcohol. Excess adhesive which is allowed to harden on the top surface is nearly impossible to remove without marring the Galaxy (Rolls) finish. 19. Terminate flooring at centerline of door openings where adjacent floor finish or color is dissimilar or at other predetermined, approved locations. Install edge strips at unprotected or exposed edges where flooring terminates. 20. Leave seam tape and weights on for at least 12 hours or until the adhesive is sufficiently cured. 21. Prevent foot traffic on flooring for minimum 12 hours after installation. After this period remove bricks and seam tape and vacuum entire floor. If heavy equipment must be moved across the finished floor, allow 24 hours and use extra care to avoid damage to the flooring. Plywood or Masonite should be used as a protective layer over the flooring to avoid damaging the surface Note: The provided color matching caulk should be used to modify/correct any slight installation imperfections. IMPORTANT: If at any time before or during the installation of the Galaxy (Rolls) quality concerns arise, call Robbins Technical Department immediately. Any materials that have been cut and permanently adhered are non-returnable and are subject to the terms of Robbins Standard Material Warranty. Cleaning and Maintenance Initial Cleaning after Installation Wait 48 hours (min) after installation before proceeding with floor maintenance. Sweep and vacuum floor to remove all loose dirt and debris. Apply approved floor cleaner diluted with clean water, as per manufacturer s instruction, using a mop. While still wet, scrub floor using a rotary buffing machine equipped with a medium Scotch Brite pad. Work in small areas, do not let cleaning solution dry on the floor. After scrubbing, remove wet residue using a wet-dry vacuum. Damp mop floor with clean water to rinse and repeat wet-dry vacuum. Repeat cleaning as required to remove any remaining mold release or sediment. Prohibit foot traffic on flooring until area is dry. Galaxy (Rolls) must not be cleaned with any petroleum based cleaners. If any petroleum product is spilled on the surface, it should be removed immediately to avoid damage to the material and voiding of warranty. Floor Cleaning and Floor Finish

Recommended cleaner is TASKI Profi or a similar product. Galaxy (Rolls) does not require an applied finish, however, if a finish is desired we suggest TASKI Wiwax or a similar product. A field applied finish will alter the formulated surface characteristic of the floor. Regular Maintenance Galaxy (Rolls) may be cleaned at any time using a damp mop with a general purpose, PH neutral cleaner diluted with water. A periodic deep clean is recommended. This can be performed with an auto scrubber using a blue pad and the same cleaner described above.
