The two Respatex Tile Ranges introduce the luxurious look of traditional tiling with the benefits of easily installed panels. The unique Aqualock jointing system ensures a perfect fit every time. These panels are only available in the 600mm width size as the join is hidden in the textured grout lines. Panel reference numbers are followed by a G, HG, S denoting the one surface finish which they are available in. 10 18 19 PROFILES AQUALOCK PANEL-LOCKING SYSTEM Respatex profiles are designed for use with the wall panels to complete your installation. All Respatex profiles come in lengths of 2400mm. Depending on the size and shape of your room, use the appropriate shaped profile to fit the panels correctly and securely into place. Finishing profiles can be used to cover any raw edges. Respatex profiles come in our standard White PVC and Brushed Aluminium. Respatex Wall Panels are available with our Aqualock panel-locking system. This will make the installation much easier and give an even more consistent and improved end result. Fix an internal corner profile to the wall and apply sealant into both channels. Insert a panel into the profile and screw the panel to the wall through the fixing lip. Fig 1. Wipe any excess sealant off the panels with a damp cloth. Installing Respatex in a three sided shower enclosure Using 600mm and/or 900mm panels: FINISHING PROFILE (also known as end caps or stop ends) L-Shaped profile available in White PVC and Brushed Aluminium, fig 1. Mildew resistant sealant must be applied in front and behind the base profile and the panel as well as between the profile and the bath or shower tray. As instructed in section A, apply sealant between panel and bath tub or shower tray as well as between profile and floor. The smallest acceptable gap for expansion is 2-3 mm. See illustration B on the right. In all wet areas a base profile must be used. Panels must be acclimatised in the room three days prior to fitting. Guarantee may be invalidated if these procedures are not carried out. B

11 20 INSTALLING YOUR RESPATEX WALL PANELS Respatex panels can be fixed directly to any existing wall surface including ceramic tiles. The Respatex easy-to-fit system provides tremendous savings on installation costs when compared to ceramic tiling. Please notify your supplier of any damage, flaws or defects in the panels or profiles within two weeks of receipt of goods and before installation. Panels are guaranteed not to delaminate, bubble, etc once fitted according to manufacturer s instructions. Cutting the panels Handsaw: Use a fine toothed saw. The cut should only be made on the downward stroke. Decorative side up. Circular Saw / Jigsaw: Use a firm and stable table or work bench to work on. Decorative side down. Figure 1 Before installing panels check that the underlying surface is level and provides a firm nail/screw hold. Panels should be attached to battens. Distance between battens - Vertically: 600mm or 900mm. Horizontally: 800mm. Figure 2 Where an installation is to go around a room, start by ensuring that the last panel is cut to fit over the door. Fit panels using our Aqualock easy-to-fit tongue and groove system, clicking into place as you go. Figure 3 Figure 7 - Floor Treatment A. Dry Area Height adjustments should be made where the panel meets the ceiling. Floorcovering material should continue behind the panels approx. 100 mm up the wall. The distance from the bottom of the panel to the floor should be mm. B. Wet Area Height adjustments should be made where the panel meets the ceiling. Floorcovering material should continue approx. 100 mm up the wall behind the panels. In wet areas where a shower or a bath is to be installed, a profile and polymer sealant must be used. It must also be used between the profile and the floorcovering. Clearance between the base profile and the floor should be mm. C. On Ceramic Tile Height adjustments should be made where the panel meets the ceiling. Leave a gap of 4-5mm between the bottom of the panel and the top of the upstand to allow for expansion of the sealant. In a wet area a base profile must be used as in diagram B The last panel on each run of a wall should be cut to size and swung into position with the corner profile attached. The profile is then fastened to the stud or batten. Remember to use mildew resistant sealant in the corner profile. A M aks35m m. Ca 25 mm. 600/ Panels can also be glued to walls providing these are sound. Use a neoprene based glue applied to the back of the panel in a zig-zag pattern. Remember to use plastic film between panel and an outer wall. Check that the panels are correctly aligned. Panels have a drip nose at both ends and can be installed either way up. Start here her B C Figure 4 Cut the panel to size and adjust the width so that the nails/screws are countersunk. Remember that the panel must be correctly aligned. Remember to use mildew resistant sealant in the corner profile. The corner profile is fastened to the batten or stud before the next panel is installed. Figure 5 Respatex wall panels with the Aqualock system are fixed to battens/walls by nailing or screwing into the groove running the length of the panel using No. 6 screws or 35mm gypsum board nails at a distance of 200mm between each nail/screw. The lowest nail/screw must be fastened a maximum of 20mm from the bottom of the panel. Aqualock Approved sealant Figure 6 For areas higher than 2400 mm a stacking profile should be used. Remember to use mildew resistant sealant in the stacking profile. In areas of high humidity, Respatex wall panels must be fitted using a mildew resistant sealant in every joint. Apply the sealant when the panel is upright against the wall, next to the previously installed panel. It is then easy to lock the two panels together into position without creating any mess. Run a bead of sealant along the length of the panel groove with a sufficient amount to provide a good seal for the panels when they are assembled. Excess sealant must be removed at once by washing the joint with white spirit followed immediately by wiping with a damp cloth. This ensures that the joint is virtually invisible with no adhesive showing. Figure 8 - fitting over bath or shower with base profile A. Fitting over a bath or shower tray - Always use a base profile. Sealant must be applied in front and behind the base profile and the panel as well as between the bottom of the profile and the bath or shower tray. Allow a gap of min 2-3mm under the base profile for expansion of the sealant. See diagram A. B. Fitting behind a bath or shower tray - Always use a base profile between the panel and the floor. Follow instructions as in diagram A. Apply sealant between the panel and bath and the profile and the floor. Allow a gap of min. 2-3mm under the base profile for expansion of the sealant. See diagram B. A B Figure 9 - Last panel (panel over doorway) A. The last panel to be used in a whole room installation should be cut to fit above the doorway ( see diagram A ) B. This panel is fitted by cutting off the tongue prior to fixing above the door (see diagram B : x = to be cut off). The panel is then fastened hidden under the ceiling and door moulding. Respatex Wall Panels provide instant waterproof, hygienic walls with a choice from an attractive range of colours and finishes. CONSTRUCTION Respatex panels consist of a wooden core material covered with a decorative high-pressure laminate (HPL) on the front face and a backing laminate (HPL) on the reverse side. This core is specially developed 7-layer 9mm plywood consisting of, among others, impregnated birch. The plywood cores are FSC certified (refer to website to download certificates). The Ply core is excellent for shower rooms and other rooms with extremely high humidity. The long edges of the panels are delivered with the Aqualock click lock tongue and groove system for concealed fixing with a 45 degree chamfered short edge (drip nose). CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE Household solvents, disinfectants and detergents do not affect the durable surface. Abrasive cleaners, however, should not be used. FIRE RESISTANCE Fire Certificate BS476 parts 6 & 7, Class 2 Spread of Flame. SIZE AND FORMAT Three Standard Sizes: 1) 2400mm x 620mm (*600mm) with Aqualock jointing on the two long sides 2) 2400mm x 920mm (*900mm) with Aqualock jointing on the two long sides 3) 2400mm x 1200mm - square edged - no Aqualock jointing All panels are 10.2mm thickness. (* net width i.e. decorative surface only excluding Aqualock tongue & groove system) HEAT RESISTANCE DO NOT expose the laminate surface to sustained high temperatures (max 180 Centigrade or 356 Fahrenheit). GUARANTEE Respatex offers the domestic consumer a 15 year guarantee, from the date of purchase, that the wall panels will remain watertight and will neither crack nor delaminate. Base profiles must be used with shower trays and in all wet areas to prevent water damage occurring. The guarantee will be void if panels are not fitted according to the manufacturers instructions.
