1 Technical Data Sheet Version: 1 Revision Date: Description ASF FR Board has been designed to maintain the fire resistance of separating walls and floors where they are breached by single or multiple building services. The board consists of a rigid mineral wool core, over-coated with an ablative fire retardant coating on 1 or 2 sides. The top coat provides an important barrier to the passage of hot gases through the thickness of the board. This reduces the rate at which the mineral wool core heats up and thus provides a better heat sink for the dissipation of conducted heat through penetrations with higher thermal conductivity. Selection of the board coated 1 or 2 sides is determined by installation considerations and fire resistance requirements. When installed on site, ASF FR board should be used with ASF S290 Acoustic Intumescent Sealant for sealing around service penetrations and the adjacent separating construction. Physical Properties Composition: Pre sprayed mineral wool board Density: Nominal 160kg/m 3 Thickness: 50mm and 60mm Thermal Conductivity: Approximately W/mK (0 to 70 o C) Flash Point: Non combustible according to BSEN 1182 Flexibility: Low to medium, approximately 12.5% Compatibility: Limitations: Suitable for use with most building materials. Should not be used in direct contact with bituminous material When using in wet areas the boards should be protected from water contact Page 1 of 6

Whilst practical site conditions have been considered, any alternative method of fixing may invalidate the test certification and advice should be sought from Polyseam. 1. Before installing ASF FR Board ensure that the surface of all service penetrations and surrounding construction is free from all loose contaminants, dust and grease. 2. Select the type and number of boards to meet the required fire performance using the fire performance table aboove or select from the drawings below. 3. Cut the required board(s) to suit the aperture dimension and type and size of service penetration(s). All exposed and cut edges of the Page 2 of 6

3 board should be coated with ASF FR Coating or ASF S291 Acoustic Intumescent Sealant prior to fitting which acts as an adhesive and ensures a tight smoke seal with the wall/floor. 4. All joints, gaps or imperfections in the installed seal should be filled with ASF S291 Acoustic Intumescent Sealant. 5. When fitting boards into gypsum walls the coated side of the board should be flush with the surface of the gypsum on both sides. 6. For fire sealing at wallheads between walls and concrete floors, there is no limit on the uninterupted length of FR Board, however height is limited to 1200mm. Where this height is >600mm, the boards should be installed so that there are no horizontal joints in the seal. 7. For the fire protection of ventilation ducts, where fire dampers are fitted ensure these are fixed according to the installation instructions for the damper (normally secured into the separating element itself). For solutions using ASF Boards see the drawings below.
