2 Use only the UL-approved Firerock from Unilock.

3 Review and check all components

4 Dry-lay components and plan assembly.

8 Prepare base for hearth and adjoining seat wall.

9 Compact to maximum density.

10 Hand tamp in tight areas.

11 Screed over final bedding course.

12 Set alignment with chalk line.

13 Establish right angles.

14 Begin to construct the initial base of fireplace with Brussels Dimensional Stone units.

15 Use an aluminum bar to assist with alignment.

16 Complete the outline and fill in with Brussels Dimensional Stone units.

17 Add three more layers to achieve the desired height.

18 Use Unilock Concrete Adhesive to secure all units. Install Hearth 72 wide and 4 layers high and 8 deep with a gap between the main fireplace base and the hearth of 4. This will provide room for a hearth coping stone 72 wide by 16 deep and 3 high.

19 Use Unilock Concrete Adhesive to secure the firebox insert base. Firerock insert set on 4 layers high (16 ) of Brussels Dimensional units with footprint of 60 wide by 44. Total Brussels Dimensional units required is 110.

20 Make sure that the base pad is still level and adjust if required..

21 Complete any seating walls and prepare the base for the hearth.

22 Construct the side walls first. Always follow insert manufacturer s recommendations.

23 Secure and bond all units with refractory cement recommended or provided by the insert manufacturer.

24 Use the refractory cement between all joints.

25 The refractory cement will not crack under high temperatures.

26 Check levels periodically. Minor adjustments can be achieved with the mortar..

27 All cracks and joints must be sealed.

28 Remove excess mortar.

29 Smooth any uneven areas with mortar.

30 Install the chimney base unit on a bed of mortar.

31 Always maintain your levels.

32 Install first chimney section.

33 Add the final sections. Extra chimney height can be achieved with additional chimney sections.

34 Seal any final joints.

35 Plan your design in measurments that match the dimensions of the stones you are using. Always dry-fit everything first.

36 Prepare to install the refractory brick on the inside. Install ½ thick fire brick (80 pieces)on inside walls and floor using the 2 bags of mortar provided.

37 Use 14 Brussels Block half stones cut in half to yield 28 units. Choose the stone of your choice for the keystone. Arches can be achieved using a temporary support and joints can be filled with mortar. Use Unilock Concrete Adhesive to adhere the façade pavers to the main structure.

38 Unigranite accents (4-6 x 6 units) The Mantel uses 24 units of a contrasting Brussels Dimensional Stone. Unigranite accents (50 4 x 4 units) 10 Rows of Brussels Dimensional Stone Designs can easily be customized using the extensive variety of paver and wall designs from Unilock.

41 Plan your entire design in measurments that match the dimensions of the stones you are using. Always dry-fit everything first before glueing.
