2 INNOVATION PermaRock is the leading name in external wall insulation (EWI) and architectural façade systems in the United Kingdom, having pioneered the development of external renders and insulated render systems to meet the special requirements of the UK climate and Building Regulations. Our commitment to continual research and development has enabled PermaRock to maintain its position as the leader in innovation and quality, constantly updating its range of products and services to meet the ever changing demands of the architect and specifier. The PermaRock EPS system is a fully developed EWI composite system with optimal insulation against heat loss. It is based on expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulating panels that are pre-aged and flame retardant and which are available in a range of thicknesses to achieve the required level of thermal performance. Depending on the substrate, the PermaRock EPS system can be installed by adhesive only, by mechanically fixing only or by a combination of adhesive and mechanical fixings. The system offers an abundance of design and decor options and can be finished with acrylic, silicone or silicate decorative renders/ plasters, mineral aggregate renders, silicone paints, stone paints as well as with brick and stone effects, Decoline tiles or architectural profiles. The PermaRock EPS System offers a number of key advantages: Lightweight, low density insulation in thicknesses from 20 mm to suit individual project requirements. Low thermal conductivity insulation: W/mK (BS EN 13163) Adhesive, mechanical or adhesive & mechanical (dowel) fixing available. Very flat surfaces readily achieved. Ready mixed adhesive available for bonding EPS insulation boards to flat surfaces. Extensive range of colourfast decorative finishes available. Engineered design for solid walls, timber frame or metal frame constructions. Suitable for new build and refurbishment, high and low rise. Fully accredited through BRE-Certifications WIMLAS scheme Certificate No. 029/95 Free from CFCs, HCFCs and formaldehyde. Economical, low cost. Cement-free renders and decorative finishes available. Easy to profile and shape to create relief and design features. Suitable for use below dpc and below ground level. Note: Where EPS insulated render systems are employed on high rise buildings, non-combustible (mineral fibre) fire breaks should be introduced at each floor level above second floor level. BRE Defect Action Sheet advises that fire breaks should be to the same thickness as the EPS insulation. Fire breaks should be mechanically fixed to the substrate with corrosion resistant fixings. 029/95

3 DESIGN APPLICATIONS The PermaRock EPS system is designed for use on all forms of construction including timber and metal frame walls as well as on brick, dense and no-fines concrete, and thermal blockwork. The system is equally suitable for new buildings and for refurbishment or remodelling of existing buildings. The low density of the system makes it especially suitable for situations where low imposed loads are critical. COMPOSITION The PermaRock EPS System incorporates expanded polystyrene insulation boards of 900 x 600 mm and in thickness to suit individual project requirements. Insulation boards are fixed to the substrate using adhesive or mechanical fixings, or a combination of adhesive and mechanical fixings. After fixing, the boards are ready to receive a PermaRock cement-based or cement-free base coat and reinforcing mesh. Corners are reinforced with pre-formed protection profiles and the system comes complete with a full range of profiles, trims and base support rails to achieve weather-tight and durable details in compliance with the principles of robust construction. If fire resistance is of paramount imporatnce, specifiers should consider the use of the PermaRock Mineral Fibre or Lamella Systems.
