5 WIND UPLIFT PERFORMANCE TABLES: 1. GENERAL NOTES: 1.1 Roof decks shall be in accordance with FBC requirements to the satisfaction of the AHJ. Wind load resistance of the roof deck shall be documented through proper codified and/or FBC Approval documentation. 1.2 Base membrane fasteners shall be of sufficient length for the following fastener engagement for each deck type. Steel: Minimum ¾-inch steel penetration and engage the top flute of the steel deck. Concrete: Minimum 1-inch embedment into pilot hole in accordance with published installation instructions. Twin Loc-Nails: Sufficient length to embed into the deck not less than 1.3 inches 1.3 The maximum design pressure for the selected assembly shall meet or exceed at least the Zone 1 design pressure determined in accordance with FBC Chapter 16. Zones having a design pressure requirement in excess of the maximum design pressure shall employ a tighter component attachment density designed by a qualified design professional to resist the elevated pressure criteria. 1.4 For existing decks, fasteners shall be tested in the existing deck for withdrawal resistance. A qualified design professional shall review the data for comparison to the minimum requirements for the system. Testing and analysis shall be in accordance with TAS SOPRAFIX INSTALLATIONS: 2.1 Soprafix and laps are heat or hot air welded. Welding is limited to hot air when using the or -TL. 2.2 Unless otherwise noted, laps are self-adhering. 2.3 Top surfaces of Soprema membranes having a sand finish shall be primed with Elastocol 500, Elastocol 600c or Aquatac at 1 gal/sq prior to application of subsequent selfadhering ply or cap membranes. 2.4 Partially, cold s involve the following: laps are heat or hot air welded, as in a standard installation. laps are with two 1-inch wide beads of HVMA-II applied to each side of the fastening row within the lap. Upon adhesive application, laps are closed and rolled to produce a 1/8-inch flow of adhesive from beneath the lap. One 1-inch wide bead of HVMA-II is applied atop the Base Membrane laps and used as the centerline for the Cap Sheet, which is rolled into the wet bead. One 1-inch wide bead of HVMA-II is applied at the underside of the Cap Sheet leading edge, approximately 1½-inch in from the edge. One 1-inch wide bead of HVMA-II is applied within the 3-inch wide, Cap Sheet finished lap. Upon adhesive application, laps are closed and rolled to produce a 1/8-inch flow of adhesive from beneath the lap. 3. INSULATION WITHIN SOPRAFIX SYSTEMS: 3.1 Insulation is required in New Construction or Re-Roof (Tear-Off), Steel Deck applications. 3.2 Insulation is optional in New Construction or Re-Roof (Tear-Off), Structrual Concrete applications. 3.3 Insulation shall not be installed atop New Construction, Lightweight Insulating Concrete Decks. 3.4 Insulation is optional in Recover applications. 3.5 All Soprafix / x applications are non-insulated. 3.6 Unless otherwise noted, the insulation may be any one layer or combination of the following insulations that meets the quality assurance requirements of F.A.C. Rule 9B-72 and is documented as meeting FBC and, for foam plastic, FBC or , when installed with the roof cover. Composite boards: ASTM C1289, type III, IV, V or VI Expanded polystyrene: ASTM C578, min pcf Extruded polystyrene: ASTM C578, min pcf Perlite: ASTM C728 Polyisocyanurate: ASTM C1289, type I or II Wood fiberboard: ASTM C208 DensDeck, DensDeck Prime, Securock or Sopraboard. 3.7 Top layer of insulation shall be preliminarily attached with minimum four fasteners/plates per 4 x 8 ft board or minimum two fasteners/plates per 4 x 4 ft board. 3.8 Lightweight insulating concrete cast over steel or deck may be used as a substitute for rigid insulation board in Tables 1 and 2. In this case, LWIC shall be cast in accordance with FBC Section 1917 to the satisfaction of the Authority Having Jurisdiction. Base membrane fasteners (screws only) shall engage the underlying steel or deck, as described. Prepared by: Robert Nieminen, PE Appendix 1, Page 1 of 7
